(Here is when I double click his profile and see 1225 as ladder high. I generally don’t like to ladder anyone unless they are really good and I know them or they have 1300 +, nevertheless I accepted his challenge)
Me: Sure, any map is fine
We join the game, and the first thing that is spoken is this.
Spookage: Hi, no dis ok ?
Me: I’m halfway typing, I never do -
He starts.
I randomed Protoss and he randomed Terran. I scout early after gate on 10 and I see that he is terran on 9. Generally it is a well known fact that people should scout the long way around, I think that is not that smart. Scouting the fast way insures that you know if he is rushing if he is there, or doing some tricks like a fast drop.
My build is like so – Pylon on 8, Gateway on 10, Gas on 11, Pylon on 15 and core as soon as my probes are built and I have 200 saved up naturally.
As we both scout each other, he tries to mine a mineral from my mineral bar and I attack his scv building a supply depot. I kill it with some micro games and the one trying to mine my minerals. Here is where I know he is not a “great player”. He did not mine the mineral from the farthest mineral patch on either sides but in the middle where I could easily squishy kill it with 4 of mine.
I attacked rather early with two dragoons. His wall-in was tight but he did the normal wall-in instead of the one people usually nowadays on 9. (Which is to move further back to do it)
I killed the first scv who tries to repair, and 5 others who try to repair it and also the marine.
As his first tank comes I have to decide whether I want to kill the depot or run for it, I had already killed one.
I decide to trick him a little, I move my goon in range of the tank, and he moves the tank back so I cant attack it. I then move the goon back and with 2 goons under the cliff and the one at top kill it, and slightly damaged the tank.
I lost 1 goon for 5 scv, 1 marine, 2 depot and damaging a tank. Cost effective, ne?
Spookage now expands aggressively but I do not bother attacking it because he has two tanks on cliff, which kills two of my bumbling goons who have wandered a little two close when scouting.
I still only have one gate at this time, and I have a reaver and a dragoon in a shuttle going to his main. While all this is happening, I have expanded to the 3:00 main with a pylon for later cannons. Vs a good player this is not a good strat but that day I was fooling around for one or two games before studying for exams again. As my shuttle nears his shuttle I pass the turret and the spidermines ( i’m guessing) near the one vulture that is in the side and attack from near the gas. I kill about 10 scv and the reaver and dragoon dies.
I am worried that he will try a push with many vults/ tanks and so I start a forge for 1/0/0 and a canon at my other expansion. As I build the citadel for dt/zealot speed I see a engineering bay look at my base. I guess correctly that he will try to tank from the ledge and kill my stuff there which he does. However, he does this extremely slowly and I bother him with a reaver drop at his expansion. I passed by a turret this time but dropped the reaver without losing the shuttle, I kill around 7 scv’s, that’s all he has at his exp. I continue droping/pissing him off with some 1 zealot 1 dragoon drops and expand aggressively, taking the entire map except the islands, the 3:00 min only and the 12:00 min only. My macro is rather pathetic because this is ladder and ladder is slow, I only have 9 gateways so I build up to the standard 14 gateways. My upgrades are 2/0/2 to his 1/1.
Here is where I guess he believes a cheat, but he never says anything. I bring a zealot and a dragoon and a templar in my shuttle and aim it to the island, but bypass a shuttle that seems to be going towards my 12:00 main expansion. I stop my shuttle and go drop it at my own main. (He has the expansion right now at the island but I never know).
He has mainly tank production and tries with a push with a couple of token vultures, and because I powered so much without making units I only have 18 something random units of dt, zealot and dragoon. I slowly build from my 15 something gates and once I saved enough I flank him and destroy everything I see.
NUCLEAR LAUNCH DETECTED
I somewhat frantically look for the red dot. Lazily I eyed it at my 3:00 main and remove my probes, saying “ha ha ha”. I say that because either he sucks or isn’t trying.. using a nuke in a game vs a good player. It destroys nothing. But damages the nexus, because I move my probes away with a lot of time remaining. I send 3 speed observers to check out where the ghost is but there is no need as the ghost is attacking uncloaked at my probes at the 3:00 natural. I kill the ghost with 6 probes then go back to mining.
I build attack with all my units and destroy his minerals only, I only had like 20 units. All my units die, but he only has around 60% of his terran forces left. In 2 minutes I quickly have 200/200 but I contemplate my attack first. I send a shuttle to the island with the zealot/dragoon/templar and the shuttle dies to 7 poorly placed turrets but all the units go in and I also drop 4 zealots and 3 probes to his tanks on the ledge to mess him up while I do a frontal attack.
I kill him and here is where the lameness starts.
Spookage: You are a fucking hacker
Spookage: You know you hack
Spookage: ss now
Me : I’m still microing storm, so I’m ignoring him
Spookage: Repeat what was said above 4 times
Me : I don’t hack
Spookage: Sent me ss
Me (unperturbed): No, if I sent an ss to every newbie I played I would be wasting time
I guess maybe if I said something else in a more polite manner, he wouldn’t have dised, but I doubt it
Spookage: The same stuff he said in the first three sentences.
He waits till I am killing a couple of buildings left, spookage says that I won’t get the win, then disconnects.
Well, time to take a piss anyways.
If you cared to notice, I told of how he said “no dis” in the beginning of the game.
I felt a little bad after he disconnect on me, because of my stupidity. I have beaten spookage twice a few months ago in the summer and he disconnected on me then too, with two similar game but I lost the first one and barely won the second, in which he disconnected. However I was a lot worse then and him nearly winning with the tank push at my main the secon dgame. I only remembered it was him that had done this to me before when I saw the disconnect screen with his name on it.
Lessons Learned:
Don’t Ladder
I will never ladder again
Having to wait for a disconnector sucks (40 seconds)
I wasted 20 minutes on this friggin report only to bash on spookage
And no, I didn’t include screen shots because I don’t know how and because I didn’t know I was going to write it, not because I think I don’t need to prove that I don’t cheat.
Playing people with relatively little skill sucks because they will often call you a hacker when you beat them, and if your feeling like a nice guy you have to waste time to send them on icq or email while being flammed, all the while knowing he could be like “playagaya” saying I was just seeing if your such a loser that cares about this game that I would send ss.
Actually the lessoned learned could be just don’t play starcraft or brood war cuz its a waste of time.
Changed my mind.. The lesson learned is just play with the people you already know that are good and are polite, and if you don’t, don’t play at all.
