Welcome to the second installment of my games played on the GameI server.

Game VIII

Me:1019
My Opponent:1010

Both of us random, I recieve Zerg at 9:00, while my opponent is awarded Terran at 12:00.

I send my ovie up to 12:00 first so I don't give away my race right away, and proceed with a standard zerg build. I make a hatch on 12 on my cliff, then a pool on 13 beneath my hatchery.

My second overlord reports that he found nothing at 6:00, and my first ovie has not yet reached 12:00, so I send a drone on a mission to scout out 3:00.

I see a refinery with my first overlord before my drone gets to 3:00 though, and I immediately send him up to 12:00. It can't get through however because of a wallin, and after it mills around outside his base for a while, I order it to take a breather and alert me of any incoming forces.

When I see the refinery I immediately get gas, and throw down two creep colonies overlooking my ledge.

As soon as I get the gas I begin morphing my main hatchery into a lair, and after that I mutate a hydra den.

The den and lair finish at almost exactly the same time, and I halt unit production for a bit to research lurker aspect. I make a few hydras, and once again forget abuot supply. I make two overlords, frustrated with myself, and decide to go ahead and research overlord speed.

I have two hydras when I see a wraith fly overhead. It begins attacking an overlord I have at my second hatchery, and I send up the two hydras to protect the giant blob.

It drives the wraith away, but it soon returns with another, but since two hydras will still kill two wraiths, he retreats his wraiths. He sends his wraiths on down to 6:00, and after flying right over my overlord, I don't see them for a while.

I take this lull in the game to upgrade hydra speed as well as carapace after my new evolution chamber is complete. I make two lurks and burrow them at my cliff, and I also decide to tech up to hive, and mutate a queen's nest.

I power for a bit, and after deciding my unit count is enough, I expand to my natural.

My overlords now have ventral sacs, and I load two lurks into one of them and four hydras in the other, and head for my opponent's minerals. I make sure the units are close together to ensure an effecient drop, and then head towards his peon line.

His building placement is decent, two depots against the cliff to help stop a huge drop, but it's not enough to stop my drop. He also has a turret a little below and to the left of his command center.

My overlords unload, and I immediately burrow my lurkers. With no units around, I order my hydras to attack the turret, and then my oppponent's comsat station. I hear the sound of tanks coming out of seige mode, as well as the sound of marines taking a stim pack. I try to bring down his comsat before his army gets there, but I'm forced to take my attention of that and try to weaken his army as much as possible.

I take out 2-3 of the 8 marines he sent up, as well as a tank. By that time my hydras are dead, and all that remains are the lurkers, which he now scans for. I unburrow and reposition them, but one is killed by tank fire, while the other manages to reburrow and kill 4 marines lined up in a row.

After another stim and comsat, the lurker is killed, but I feel like I now have the advantage, and even more so as I scout his natural and find nothing there.

After the success of the first drop, I figure why not go for another? I have three more lurkers ready to go, and after burrowing one on the edge of my cliff, I load up the other two and four more hydras.

A quick update on my base: I know have a hive, but no hive tech. I also throw down another evolution chamber and begin evolving ranged attack upgrades, as well as hydra range and adrenal glands for lings.

I gather the ovies at his base again, and drop in the same place. I see he hasn't rebuild his turret, but he know has an SV to spot the lurks. The lurkers are dropped first, and they immediately cower behind his supply depots from the tank fire. I burrow the one just to the left and above the minerals, while the other I move closer and actually in the mineral line.

The hydras are also dropped in the mineral line, and althought the tank kills them all pretty quickly, he loses a lot of SCVs due to the splash from the tanks.

He's once again forced to cease mining while he takes out my lurkers, but this time it doesn't take so long, and after a bit of micro on my part trying to keep one alive, they both end up dying both to fire from marines and tanks.

I know figure he'll have most of his forces at his base, and I send up my hydras, about a control group of them. I gather them in the middle of the map, and after I collect 6 more, I hotkey them into three groups and head off into my opponent's base.

I'm ready to attack, when I'm forced to stop for a second to deal with four wraiths going on ovie raids. I have four or so hydras at my base, so I quickly move all my ovies in one place with the hydras under them, and get back to my attack.

The hydras reach my opponent's choke with no trouble, and I send them up a little closer to his ramp. He's building a barracks outside his choke, and I kill the SCV, which prompts him to cancel construction.

My overlords provide a look at his ramp, which is cluttered with M&M. I hear the marines stim as they prepare to attack, and instead of trying to attack, which would have resulted in a lot of units lost for me, and not so many for him, I decide I'm happy with the one SCV kill and head back to my base.

I send lings to each of the expansions, and decide it'd be good to research burrow. My hydras are now at 1/1, and I decide to continue with the range upgrades, and begin researching that and carapace again. I also get all the other upgrades for hydras and lings I haven't already mentioned.

I morph three more lurkers as a an overlord I have outside my mineral natural notices a pretty sizable force coming towards my base.

The terran forces consist of a control group of marines, give or take a few, a handful of medics, and two tanks along with a couple of SVs. This is going up against my two control groups of hydras and 8 lings. I've researched broodling, but with no queens to spawn them, the spell is useless :(. I decide to go ahead and attack now before he has time to stim and heal and seige his tanks.

I send in my hydras first so my lings can get close enough to attack, and then I move the two lurkers I have at my choke in. His marines target the first lurker and it's dead before it's burrowed, but the second lurker burrows before it's killed. His SVs spot it however, and it only manages to kill 3-4 marines before it's dead.

My cracklings are doing pretty well, and I shift click on a few things to attack, mainly his tanks, and then marines in the back of his army to help prevent retreat.

He's killed a lot of hydras, but my 1/1 upgrades are superior, and after his forces dwindle down to 4 marines and 3 medics he pulls back. My lings in the back manage to kill one more marine, but I don't pursue him, and he travels uninhibited back to his base.

I'm left with 6 hydras, all but 1 in the red, and 4 lings. Instead of countering immediately, I turn all my larvae-two at each hatchery-into hydras.

Once they hatch I attack move my swarm to his choke, and stupidly stop to let them kill an engineering bay he has spotting for his tanks.

A tank soon starts attacking my hydras, and without anything to spot for my hydras, they mill around below the tank for a bit until it fires again. I take control and order them to move up his ramp.

He has about 5 or so marines in between myself and the tank, and due to terrible unit control, I only have 9-10 hydras left. Their AI is telling them to attack the tank, so I'm forced to manually shift click on each of the marines.

I realize that if I continue this battle, I'll lose poorly, and pull back my forces, with 6 hydras left. I decide to take a look at his natural, and find it operational.

His marines are close behind me, and instead of letting my hydras attack them, I shift click on the SCVs, trying to kill as many as I can before my hydras are eliminated.

I manage to kill a few, 5-7 I think, but I lost a lot of resources in this battle, whereas my opponent lost hardly anything at all.

I have 300 minerals to spare, and throw down another hatchery. My ling at 3:00 notices a flying command center about to land, and I quickly burrow it. He sees it thought, and doesn't yet land his command center. Instead he brings over his wraiths, scans for it, and the ling is quickly killed.

I wonder why he didn't bring an SV over, and I soon find out when I see 5 of them outside my base, ready to go on an irradiating spree. I figure he can't have that big of an army, at least not as big as mine since zerg have a faster production rate than any other race. I decide I'll attack before he has the chance to irradiate my whole army, and attack with 16 hydras, 12 lings and two lurks.

I'm astonished at the size of his army-about 18 rines, 6 meds and two tanks already. I do the same thing I did last time in terms of microing, hydras first, then lings then lurks.

Once again he targets the lurks first, and this time both die before they burrow. After this I know the game is pretty much over, and after taking one more stand, I leave the game

Things I could've done better

So many...where to begin

1. I had a hive but no hive tech. Ultras would have soaked up the marines fire, and I'd had plenty of time to upgrade their armor. Defilers would have also owned, both for dark swarm and plague.

2. I needed a spire, both for scourge, and once I got my hive, a greater spire so I could make guards.

3. My micro sucked ass.
a. When I first attacked, almost half my forces died before they even got to his ramp. I should've hugged the cliff to 3:00's base, and checked out his natural first. This would've resulted in a lot more SCV kills, and he also would've had to move his men to me, and due to a depot beneath his minerals, I could've easily picked them off one by one.
b. Lurker micro. I should've just sent them in, and instead of burrowing them, waited until they were targetted, and pull them back.

4. My recon sucked ass. I let him make four wraiths while I just sat on my ass and didn't attack. I don't know how I could get better recon in a ZvT early game, because lings are killed before they get through the wallin, and by the time I tech to mutas, it's too late to stop him from teching.

Game IX

Me:995
My Opponent:1051

We both random, and I recieve a nexus at 3:00, and I hope and pray my opponent is at 12:00

He is-as random to Terran

I think that toss is very powerful at either 12 or 3, with the exception of toss at 12 and terran at 3. The reason I think this is because toss units are very powerful, and this makes this race excellent for rushes.

My build goes something like this...pylon on 8, and a gate on 10. My peon now finds my opponent, and I decide to goon rush, and make an assimilator on 11. I make a few more probes, and I stop production on what I think was 13 to make a cybernetics core.

Although most people make their core after their second pylon, I really want to rush this guy, so I go for a very early core.

I continue to make peons until I have 15, and the 16th is making, then I build a pylon. I realize if I let the 16th peon finish, then I won't be able to make a goon until my pylon is done, and since my core is almost finished, I cancel the peon.

My core finishes, and I immediately make a goon. I set the rally for my opponent's base, and once my pylon is done, I resume peon production. When I get enough money I make queue up another goon, and follow where my first one is going.

It reaches my opponent's ramp, and sees an SCV making a factory below the ledge on the north edge of my base. He's probably going to float the factory into my base and after making a few vultures, go on a peon raid. I stop that however, and kill the SCV.

Next I run my goon up his ramp, and start attacking the supply depot on the far right of his wallin. I see the lights in his barracks come on, and once the marine pops out, it starts attacking my goon, trying to distract it from the supply depot. I don't attack the marine yet, deciding to let it's rifle do *snicker* 6 damage to me until I do.

I check back on my base, and after I queue up another goon, I throw down a pylon and research range.

My second goon arrives, and his factory inside his base is complete, and he adds on a machine shop, and I assume he also has a second factory under construction, since he'd cancelled the one built below my base.

My opponent tries to micro his marine, a bit, but draws it back after it's down to 10 hp. I see the lights begin flashing again, and so far it looks as if my rush is effective. I have his depot down to yellow hp now, with a third goon on the way.

I keep up with pylons and peons, and continue making goons out of one gate throughout all this.

He brings over two SCVs to repair the depot now, and I now target them. He brings in his marines while my goons are attacking the SCVs, but I make them my new target, and they're both soon dead.

My opponent's two SCVs are almost dead, and he brings over 4 more, his depot now burning down. My 4 goons make quick work of the SCVs, and after killing a vulture I get his depot down to 50 hp before he leaves.

Things I could've done better

1. I should've teched a little more while attacking, but that's about it.

Game X

Me: 1020
My Opponent: 1042

Both of us random, and I recieve toss at 6:00, and he spawns a hatchery at 12:00.

I find him a bit late, and my probe sees a hatchery morphing at his ramp. Since I already have a core and gas up, I decide I'll go ahead and dual tech to DTs and shuttle, for a DT drop of course ;).

I make a zealot and place it at my ramp just as a zergling comes running up, but the zealot soon takes care of it. I warp in a citadel and make a goon, keeping up with peon production and pylons the whole time.

The citadel is soon done warping in, and I immediately begin a templar archives, having just enough minerals to make one.

I make a robofac when I get the resources, and soon after I make another goon. After this goon pops out my opponent sends in an overlord from the right side, but the goons kill it before he has a chance to see anything.

My archives finish, and I immediately make a DT, as well as another gateway. My robofac is also done now, and after having to wait for a pylon, I make a shuttle.

I soon have two DTs in the shuttle, and I take it up to my opponent's base. I drop the DTs out of his sight range so he won't be able to run his drones away.

I send the DTs up to his mineral line, but he already has an overlord there. I kill three drones before he sends up a few hydras, and instead of letting my DTs just do all the damage they could I send them back down to where I dropped them and load em back up into the shuttle.

I send all my forces-6-7 goons, 2-3 zealots, up now, figuring he has at least most of his forces up waiting for the DTs to come back, since he didn't see my load them up in the shuttle.

I think I wait a bit too long to attack though, and when I send in my forces they're met with about 24 hydras, 18 from his main and about 6 from his natural expansion he now has online.

I figure I'll just do the most damage I can, and after microing a little, I kill all his forces, but 9 more hydras come soon enough and finish the job.

I drop the DTs again while I'm attacking, and they kill at least 8 drones, making them relatively cost effective, killing 400 minerals worth of units, and him losing mining time.

He sends his hydras up, and this time he brings some from the bottom too, so I can't escape again.

Now neither of us attack or expand for a while, we just mass units.

I expand to my natural, and add a few more gateways. I go goon/temp with zealots whenever I accumulate too much minerals.

I begin to get a little nervous, my zealots not finding any expansions besides his natural, and knowing I'll have a lot of units coming my way soon.

That's exactly what happens, he attacks with about 24-30 hydras, to my 4 zealots, and 8-10 goons, along with 2 temps.

I let off a few storms, but the temps only have one storm apiece, and he easily dodges them, keeping his losses to about 3 hydras per storm. I summon an archon from the energyless temps, but my goons are turned into soup, and I know the game is over. I give a gg and leave.

Things I could've done better
1. More temps, this is why I lost, simple as that.

None of the other games are worth mentioning, but I discovered that abusing occurs on gamei also.

I random to Zerg at 3:00 while my opponent randoms to terran at 12:00. I decide to try a 9 pool, and after he scouts me with his SCV, he leaves the game at the 1:50 mark.

I also win a relatively easy PvP, but my opponent discs.

Two games I play we both random and my opponents leave because they didn't like the race they recieved.

I also lost to a 9 pool at the same positions as above, but my opponent chose zerg and forced me to race. I did a dual rax on 9 followed by a depot, and by the time my first rine was out my SCV saw 6 lings coming towards me.

That's all folks, the season is over now, and after a while I may get back into it. Thanks for reading :)
