BETTER AMATUER (slightly)

   This is my 1st BR, so please, pardon me. I can't get screenshots, so any pics you see are re-makes from the starcraft campaign editor I ain't really doing justice to them, but who cares...

    On the 7th of June, 2001, "Mohhengxiansuxtothecore" and "bmrox" decided to play their 30th or so starcraft game after a loonnnggg series of modem games. The map chosen was "New Gettysburg" because it was big map, and they both hadn't tried it yet.

    After much leaving and fussing over who would be what race, "bmrox" decided to be the terran that he was, and "Mohhengxians..." decided to be a zerg because he liked Muta rushes.

    "Bmrox" started in the SSW corner. His build order was 8-barracks, 9-depot, and 10-refinery. This isn't much that you would expect, but hey, it's THEIR 30th game only...        

    I wouldn't know about the other build order, because it was a modem game, which only allows 2 players in. The only reason why I know what he did is because he's my bro.  <sheepish grin>

    Right after his depot and barracks completed, "bmrox" sent the 2 scvs to build a factory and an engineering bay. When both were completed, he decided use one to build a starport... and use the other to build another starport. "Wraith storm" he crackled.

    One of his constructing scvs decided to go to construct his 3rd starport, while the other went on with a science facility. Meanwhile a dropship had come out from "bmrox"'s starport. Quickily, he put in 2 scvs, and sent one to the expansion SW of his base, and one to the expansion NNW. His economy started thriving, and he started churning wraiths as fast as he could.

    Note: while churning his wraiths, "bmrox" had not constructed an academy, nor a single defense structure. He hadn't even got a comsat station (but who cared. His opponent was zerg anyway.).

    Then, when the 14th wraith came out of the starport, a huge fleet of about 24 Mutas appeared, followed by 2 overlords. "bmrox" commanded his fleet to cloak, and sent them right at the overlords. In about 5 seconds, the Mutas were confused and didn't know what to do because their "cloakeye" had died. They flapped their wings and quickily retreated. Getting only one of their pals destroyed.

    "Mohhengx..." started cursing about his failure. What he didn't know was that he had managed to destroy 6 wraiths.

    "bmrox" started churning wraiths again. However, before he got to his 20th wraith, a new attack force came, consisting of 29 fresh mutas and 4 overlords. The wraiths once again cloaked, and killed off the overlords. However, the mutas managed to destroy half a dozen wraiths before they retreated unscarred.

    Realising that the hit and run attacks would only lead to his loss, "bmrox" started building battlecruisers. He had three battlecruisers fresh out when the new attack came with idunnohowmany mutas and 6 overlords.

    "Bmrox" knew that he couldn't win by destroying the overlords, and went straight for the mutas. After a bloody few seconds, there was a whole control group of Mutas and only half a control group of wraiths.

    Then the battlecruisers came.

    Three battlecruisers charged through the mist and started blasting the mutas. Six Mutas were left when the wraiths had gone down. The battle ended soon, when the battlecruisers blasted all six wraiths into whereverthatmutasgowhentheydie. One battleship had been sacrificed in doing so, however.

    By the time the battle was over, "bmrox" had 3 new battlecruisers from his starport. The five battlecruisers advanced NE, until they encoutered a force of 3 overlords and 8 Mutas.        

    The battle was short and sweet. Not a single cruiser was lost, and all 8 mutas had been blasted out of new gettysburg.

    It took "bmrox" that long to figure out that Mutas can't do shit to battlecruiser armor.

    "Mohhengx..." let out a yelp as the 5 original battlecruisers, followed by 3 newly-out-from-starport battlecruisers stormed his main into pieces. He didn't have much defense. All his money went to the now dead mutalisks.

    While the 8 battlecruisers were raping up "Mohheng..."'s main, 3 battlecruisers took a d-tour to the main. On the way, they found 8 drones and one morphing hatchery. The drones started running away the moment their beloved hatchery started being blasted. However, they were met by the 8 battlecruisers that were on their way home from destroying the drones' beloved main. Not one drone escaped alive.

    At this point, "Bmrox" had his 12th battlecruiser flying from his base. The 11 battlecruisers surrounded the still-morphing hatchery, and started yamatoing it. What "bmrox" didn't notice was that the "morphing hatchery" he was going to yamato had turned into a drone. In about 4 seconds, the drone's health points reached -2000.

    At this point, "bmrox" had built 2 wraiths and started scouting for "mohhengx..."'s expansions. When he found an expansion on the NE corner, his battlecruisers started for it. When they arrived at "mohhenx..."'s expansion, he put up the white flag.

Lessons to learn - cloaked wraiths can't stop a muta rush that well (unless you back attack)

                         - mutas can't do shit to battlecruiser armor

                         - 5 battlecruisers can wipe out a base whose owner has been spending all his money on mutas

                         - when you send in a muta rush, make sure you send in more overlords
