But making something up can't hurt can it? Riiiiight. Anyways. I had had enough ladder for one day and I decided to write up another text report. The made up one is here and the first, which hasn't been rated yet, is here. This report is about a random pubbie I played, and I it is not made up. BTW, Ling-erie, I never saved a replay of the game from Newbies On Ladder II, so I had remember things. No one has a perfect memory. :(
As usual, I was hanging out in NoHunters, with everyone dead. I had had enough with ladder and I wanted a game, so what better than to pubbie. Now pubbies these days, at least for me, usually tend to be really newbical, so I hadn't really wanted to battlereport this until after I had played the game. Anyhoo, I scrolled down the long list of melee games, mostly consisting of BGH and other shitty money maps. I kept on scrolling down until I found a game "1v1 temple, average". I joined up.
When I entered the game room. There was already one person there before me, so I had the feeling I was going to be banned. But, NO! The creator banned the other guy. He greeted me, and we chatted something like this:
creator: hi
me: sup
creator: lets go
me: go then
me: gl hf
creator: gl
The countdown commenced to zero and the game started.
Creator (can't remember nickname, no one has good memory): Orange zerg 12:00
Me (can't remember my own nickname, no one has good memory): Purple Toss 6:00
I found myself looking at a shiny, purple Nexus. We had both randommed of course, but I had no thought on being a Toss. Anyways, I cloned my peons somewhat perfectly and did a somewhat anti-random build. A pylon followed by a gateway, assimilator, cyb core, pylon gateway. I sent a probe scouting counter-clockwise to 3:00 and I began pumping goons. My probe entered 3:00 and found nothing, so I sent it on to 12. As soon as it entered the 12 choke, I saw a morphed hatch and some drones got ready to be morphed into sunkens. I sent my probe up the ramp and found a spawning pool and quite a number of drones. I let my probe die to zerglings as I pondered at my desk of what a sensible counter to zerg would be in my position. I quickly though templars, but then I though of corsairs. Yes, the deadliest anti-air-free zerg unit. And seeing that last time I checked, orange had only a pool and drones, I decided to get to work on a stargate. I kept up and pumped more probes out of my nexus until there so many, that if I clicked on one, twelve would show up. Just joking.
Anyways, during my probe pumping moments, I had warped a corsair from Aiur and sent it over to the zerg base in hopes that he would still be anti-air-free. I then started another sair and added a gateway in my base. I thought it was safe to expand to my natural also, as I had quite a handful of probes at my main and quite a few goons and zealots. I could have also protected my expo with cannons. My sair entered the enemy base and found a hydra den morphing, so I still had time. I quickly scouted around for some overlord hunting. I found a few all huddled up together and I attacked them. At that point my second sair arrived at the base and I fell two overlords before some hydras came and chased me off. I flew my corsairs to the cliff above 12 natural and left them there. I maynarded my probes and quickly started a Templar Archives. I added another gateway and began another sair. Now I suppose you're wondering what I am doing right now. I won't tell you yet. You'll find out soon.
My expansion nexus completed and I maynarded my probes there, not all of course, but some. My templar archives complete, I added two more gateways and began three dark templar out of my three initial gateways. I had my gateways rallied to my choke, where two cannons had been set up, and my goons and zealots were waiting there. Suddenly, and to my surprise, a whole group of lings charged into my base. I don't know how many because I could not count them all, but there was a shitload of them. My goons fell to their deadly claws and there little blast thingys only killed a few of them. My zealots had already fallen and disappeared into a blue flame and my goons were fighting for their lives. But the battle soon turned as my three new DT swiped up all the lings, and soon it was a bloody pool of... blood. Orange had no overlord around for any kind of detection and he still possessed slow overlords. I added two more stargates in my main and I rallied my new gateways to my natural as well. I kept pumping DTs and corsairs. When I had twelve DT and 6 sairs I decided it was the right time to attack.
Ahh, now we're getting to something. Though I've never tried DT/Sair versus zerg, I wanted to test it. And it would be fatal to zerg unless zerg got spore colonies and such. Anyhoo, my DTs ran and a group of hydras there focus fired onto my force. While the hydras were occupied with the DTs my sairs went in and killed all supporting overlords. Unfortunately, they were no longer slow ovies but fast ones, and my DTs died and I was forced to run my corsairs away, or risk losing them.
If I could kill all overlords that came into the surrounding area, quickly, I could own him with my DTs. But as of now, I did not seem to be working. But remember, never give up. It wasn't over yet, and I could still do some serious damage and such. Suddenly, a handful of hydras, about 24~, with two ovie support, ran into my natural and razed my cannons, before I even had a chance to react. Now, goons weren't a good counter to hydras, especially when massed. But DTs were. I sent my corsairs in and began assaulting the two ovies, but hydras fired up and the shield points started going down on my sairs. I was on the verge of running my four sairs away, but one ovie was down, and I still had all three. The second ovie exploded in the air, and I had only lost one sair, with two seriously damaged ones. Swipe, swipe, went the DT, as they knocked on hydras's death doors. Half of his hydras fell, but he still did not retreat them. By the time only three were left, he retreated them. At my natural, I had lost two pylons, a few cannons, a shitload of goons, all my probes and some zealots. :(
I wasn't in very good shape, and seeing that I needed to try to outresource zerg, I expanded again, to the 3:00 main, while I began stocking up on probes again. I had three gates ready to go, and I built a sair from each one, while getting DT from my gateways. I soon discovered his new expansion at 9:00 natural, and decided to strike it with DTs and corsair support. 5 DT left my main with 4 corsair. I figured it would be enough. I was wrong. I got sandwiched right in the middle of the 9:00 ramp and 9:00 choke. It seemed he was ready for my attack and sent a huge number of hydras and a bunch of ovies. I struck the ovies with my sairs, trying to occupy to opponent with my DT. But his numbers were too much and they overpowered both DT and corsair. My 3:00 expansion went up and I maynarded a bunch of probes there, while my main had dried out. :( I was RICH. So I made four more gateways at my new expansion and some more stargates (I don't remember how many, I think it was 2). :( And with the fear of his hydras, I researched storm and cannon-defended my 3 expo.
As I pumped DT and corsair continuosly, I also mixed in a few HT (High Templar) with them. Storm owns ;). This time, he decided to go on the offensive and attacked my 6:00 natural. I waited for ovies to appear, and sure enough they did. My sairs when in and started killing ovies. I had a total of 6 sairs. While busy with my natural, I also started making DT/sair at my 3:00 main and built a huge mass of cannons at my choke (at 3). I was in trouble. My natural had went down, due to lack of unit control and my DT were all banished back to that planet, Shakuras... Anyways, I made another templar archives at my 3:00 main, for I feared I may lose mine at 6:00. Orange, satisfied I was dead, backed his ovies back up north to his main base. This proved fatal however, as my DTs from three and my DTs from my 6:00 main attacked the zerg from both sides. His hydras tried to retreat, but in vain. They got trapped by DT and were cut down to size. I quickly scouted his 9:00 natural expansion. I found a couple of sunkens, that's it.
I brought a group of 12 DT outside 9, with some HT and sairs. If I could do this right, I could win the game. I quickly expanded to 3:00 natural as well. I sent my sairs in first, and attacked ovies that were around. Afterwards, detection-free, I sent in my DTs, while positioning my HT outside the base. He tried to bring hydras from his main, but with careful storming, I managed to befell all of them - and any that got passed were sliced up by my dark, shadowy foes. My natural went up and I maynarded probes, and I felt safe, because I had cannon-defended myself. ;) But at that point, he decided it would be a clever counter-attack, if he attacked my 6:00, as he had already taken down my natural. A shitload of hydras (sorry couldn't count them all) ran in and up the ramp, where I had only 2 cannons and quickly razed them. HT at my six main frantically tried storms, but only killed few, as he danced his hydras around like mad. I scouted the 12 position and found a dried natural.
His 9 natural went down, and I massed my sairs (12 of them) and DTs (24 of them) and HT (4 of them) outside the 9 position. Surprisingly, he did not even have any spores, even after all the fatal attacks on him and all the fatal attacks on me. I didn't care of course. He only had a small contigent of hydras at his 12 position, which consisted of 12 of them. Corsairs flew in and eradicated some nearby ovies, which caused orange to lose all valuable detection. I sent my DT in and stormed the hydras. They fell in a bloody mess, but some managed to kill the templar. ^^ Of course he was dead anyway. But he wanted to see if he could win and sent all his guys into the 3:00 natural. But they ran head first into a SHITLOAD of cannons. His hydras opened fire, but after all were dead, I had only lost 6 cannons. Hydras > Cannons or Cannons > Hydras? :( Anyways, his natural had been completely annihilated, and he still would not give up. He kept sending in small handfuls of lings, that couldn't do no shit, and I eventually ended destroying his whole main, before he left with a hearty "gg".
Lessons Learned:
Just the one: Zerg sux - but they're my favorite race! ^^
I hoped you enjoyed this, and stay tuned for my next one!
P.S. - none of this is made up. I might have forgotten things, or I might've screwed it up because I couldn't remember things, as this melee game was played long ago, and I wrote it late night :(
Also, the creator - Dawn, asked me to join his clan after the game, and I said yes. ^^ Of course, I don't do no shit and stuff, but if you wanna see their screwed site, here you go. BTW, it might not work, because their server is fucked. So my clan name when I am "in" their clan, is BladeZ[W]. BTW, someone rate my first report. :(
