Bluetaiji Vs IntoTheRain
Greetings and welcome to my second starcraft report. This time I'm reporting a match up between the highly renowned IntoTheRain and bluetaiji, PvT, from a nice replay I found.
Both these players are well known, especially Rain, so you can expect a good game. Unfortunately the map is the repeatedly found "lost temple" but hey, what can you do? Any way enough crap lets get on with it.
Stuff
Bluetaiji lands his sparkling white command centre at the 12 o'clock mineral field while IntoTheRain warps in his (possibly gay) purple nexus on the 6 o'clock plateau. No map sorry - i refuse.
Build Orders
Rain - pylon 8, warpgate 10, gas 12, core 13, pylon 15, pylon 23, robo-fac 25.
Blue - Supply depot 9, rax 11, gas 12, factory 15, supply depot 16, supply depot 20.

Early Game
Both players clone their peons and build another with precision, both sending their seventh worker to their ramp.
Blue's first supply depot is constructed close to his ramp with intentions of a wall-in. Rain warps in his first pylon close to his ramp for easy rushing before sending his probe scouting around the map in an anti-clockwise direction.
Blue scouts a little later, on his tenth scv, also in an anti clockwise direction before slapping down a rax at his ramp.
Not long after Blue's scouting scv has left Rain's probe arrives and begins attacking the scv building the rax.
While he is trying to scout and chse the probe in his base blue is letting his resources get away on him, unlike Rain who is keeping them nicely under 50 or so.
As soon as his cybernetics core is finished Rain begins to research goon range and begins to builds his first dragoon as soon as the scouting scv enters his base. Once the scv is destroyed Rain sends his lone dragoon up to Blue's main and begins a goon pump out of his single gate.
When Rain's first goons makes it to the ramp it begins firing at on of the supply depots blocking its way before being chased away by a tank that was sitting comfortably behind the wall-in.The goon reteats and meets up with another of its brethren and together they pound away at the wall once again. The pair flee though as they spot Blue's two siege tanks set into siege mode.
Mid Game
In the mean time Rain builds an observatory back home and regroups his goons to the middle of the temple. Blue builds a starport and command center in his main.
There is a brief lull in the action as both players expand to their naturals and build up.
After a short while Rain decides to keep the pressure on Blue and loads up a shuttle with a dragoon and 2 zealots, only to turn back with a cargo of dissapointed protoss when his first observer sees just how many tanks Blue has on his plateau.
Soon after Blue begins a defence of tanks on the ridge and in the gully leading to his natural. Both players are constantly searching each others base with wraiths and observers while the build up continues. Rain researches zeal speed and gets a templar archives before building up an army of misc protoss infantry. Blue on the other hand is happy to just pump out tanks and, when he feels he has enough, spills his tanks out of his choke to his mineral only. When his vultures go to place mines in the centre they encouter some of Rain's goons but retreat before either side sufferes much damage.
Rain's whole army consisting of misc protoss infantry and a pair of shuttles then moves up outside the western walls of the temple, avoiding the arclite fire that owns anything in the middle of the map.
Blue then tries to intercept the protoss with around 12 or so vultures. With their hit and run tactics the vultures use their speed to kill a high templar and make their escap with out a single loss.
In the mean while Rain manages to sneak a dt amongst Blue's tanks before it is revealed by a scanner sweep. The rest of the protoss charge in but retreat when they comes under some serious fire power.
A lone tank follows the army only to be totally owned when it comes face to err.... shadow with a dark templar.
The centre of the map is beginning to become a mine field just waiting for some helpless goons, but Rain has other ideas. He re-enforces his army before sending it all around to the western side of the temple where they wait for a flanking manoeuver. Rain then flies a probe to the bottom right island to start an expansion, with Blue sending a scv to the 9 o'clock main soon after to start an expansion there.
Blue then uses scanner sweep on Rain's choke before sending in astrike force of vultures. The vultures encounter 2 zeals, 2 goons and a cannon. The vultures begin dancing the concentrated fire of dragoons and placing mines near the zealots, but their concussive damage is not enough when it comes to the cannon and they are forced to retreat after losing 3 or 4 of their number.
While all this was going on Rain managed to drop a high templar and dragoon into the undefended terran natural. The templar storms around ten or so scv's into oblivion before being shuttled back to the cliff over looking the expansion.
Rain has been macroing hard through his seven gate ways as Blue's tanks push further down the temple.
The tanks are spotted as they begin hammering a near by pylon. A descent protoss force takes the terran armour head on but the main threat comes from the west, providing an exellent flank attack. Initially things seem to be going in the protoss' favor with Rain unleashing some fabulous storms. Luckily for Blue he still had plenty of vultures and was able to take out the remaining goons and templars after dozens of artillery shells had bombarded the temple.

Feeling the momentum the terran steam roller moves down to Rain's mineral only and begins pounding upon the protoss natural once again. Whats left of the shattered protoss run back to Rain's main and meet up with some more speedy zeals and high templar. Four zeals are then loaded into a shuttle and dropped amongst the tanks before the rest of the force drove in. As soon as the zeals are dropped Blue does a quick scanner sweep, expecting dt's. The zeal drop has a two fold effect - firstly, the splash damage caused from the tanks destroys two of their own and secondly, the tanks were focussing on the dropped zeals, enabling the rest of the army to get up close with out much damage. Rain does some more exellent storming and the zealots, with the help of re-enforcing dragoons, are able to get the terran push on a back peddle.
Soon after the protoss break out more vultures pour on to take out the single high templar. More terran metal comes along and tanks once again begin sieging up at the mineral only. Rain performs another drop on the tanks, this time with a dt that is able to destroy a tank befor it is taken out. As usual the rest of the protoss army marches in with the usual amount of excellent storming from Rain. The crackle of psionic storm is the turning point of this battle and Blue is forced all the way back to his own choke point.

Almost done.....
With a bit of room to breathe Rain collects his ground forces, mainly consisting of goons, and heads off to Blue's naked expansion at 9'. Upon the arrival of the protoss all the scv's try to run back to the terran natural but are quickly destroyed. The terran expansion is razed in a couple of minutes.
At this point in time Rain is long distance mining to his mineral only and Blue is quick to pray upon the defencless cargo line - sending in a control group of vultures that kill many probes before being beaten back by some P.O'ed returning protoss.
Rain then expands to his mineral only. He once again assembles his troops and marches his entire army north for the final showdown.
Rain uses his goons, dt's, ht's and zeals to tear apart the remains of the terran blockad before stopping just outside of the terran choke. Here the protoss wait for re-enforcements and an archon to warp before pushing deep into terran territory.
While the protoss march into a hail of arclite fire, the templar that was waiting on the cliff pays another visit to the local scv's =).
Blue uses every trick he can think of to save his tanks - moving scv's in the way to slow down the protoss and...well thats about all he did actually.
Unfortunately no number of scv's could save him and as more and more protoss re-enforcement pour into his main he is forced to concede to his protoss rival.
Well thats it for todays episode, look out for more reports from me in the future. - Chobo~Penguine
