Me: Bottom, zerg
Opponent: Top, terran
I opened up the game with a quick expansion on 10 to my natural, and started an overlord on a year-long journey to keep an eye on the terran's natural. I made a spawning pool, overlord, another hatch, sunken, THEN remembered recon with zerglings and the evil bunkering ability of terrans. My 4 lings ran out and were maimed by marines, medics, a bunker, and a small, half-completed barracks. Doh!
Lair finished, and I went lurkers to try to counter the offensive bunkering, but by the time my first 4 lurkers popped out, there was a tank pounding on my sunken colony. At this point, I'd built almost all my production and tech at my natural, but did my best to slow down the push and keep my peons out of the fire. I failed, and lost my main, but not before getting out a key tech: overlord transport.
With my main on the verge of falling, I desperately got about 5 overlords full of hydras 3 queens and took off on a mission to overcome the odds. I loaded up a 6th olord with peons, and headed out, leaving a mined-out natural, 2/2/2 ground swarms, and absolutely nothing else, he ravaged me. Meanwhile, at the top of the map...my hydra drop was successful. The main fell, and luckily my enemy didn't have an expansion up at the natural (hey I think that first overlord got there about this time). I built up at the south natural minerals, the terran's old, dead main, and his natural. Meanwhile, he did EXACTLY The same thing with my old base, we were back to square one, but in reversed spots!
I got a few queens to broodling/harass him, knowing that I had a mineral advantage (I had nearly mined out my natural, he hadnt touched his, otherwise we were even). So I dropped a lurker or two here and there to harass peons, broodlinged the odd tank, and generally tried to delay any offense until I had the proper structures rebuilt (see, he had made a lot of production facilities down near the bunkering, whereas I lost mine). Unfortunately, the tank push arrived, with irradiate support, and destroyed a peon line and two hatcheries at the southern mineral expansion. I finally put an end to it with queens and upgraded hydralisks, and came back at him with my new crackling technology. I dropped the same familiar hydralisks from the same overlords into my old main and started wreacking havoc, and once his forces were drawn in, I hit with the bulk of my ling/hydra force and tanks.
The game ended here, but DAMN was it good. Its one of those games that you'll never forget because of the odd events that transpired, ya know?
