To the awesome people who frequent battlereports.com: This is my first report, and I’m relatively new here. I’m truly sorry, as I only got 1 screenshot from the end, and I forgot to save the replay. How terrible is that? My apologies. Now, on with the report of my battle!
Map: Lost Temple
Game type: Ladder
SFI_CBPye: Orange (that’s me)
Juilles: Teal (that’s the other guy)
So I was out on B.net looking for a game to play. Amidst all the 3v3 0-clut games, and the numerous BGH games which are mysteriously all on different maps, I happened upon a 1v1 LT Ladder game. My second ladder game, ever. My first was a loss. I was not going to repeat the same mistakes.
I warped a Nexus in at the 6:00, and Juilles warped in at the 8:00. It was on.
Now I’m new to the ladder thing, so the speed had me a little worried. I got used to it. He asked me if I was any good. Now, I’ve only been playing since December 2001 (it’s May 2, 2002 as I write this), and although I wouldn’t last 5 minutes in a game against the likes of the people who frequent battlereports.com, I thought I was good enough to kick his ass something good.
I started by pumping out a probe, and whipping the four I had into a life of continuous hard labour. It’s good to be me. As my 7th probe came out, I made a pylon, and at my 9th, a gateway. I made some more probes, another gateway, and a forge followed shortly by a cy-core. My adrenaline was racing… I didn’t know what to expect.
Shortly before my second gateway arrived, I noticed I had a visitor. One of his probes thoroughly scouted my main, and started to leave. I had one of my probes follow it. Alas, the two of them came to fighting words near my natural, yet I was fortunate enough to emerge the victor of that small struggle. I ordered my probe to go check out the 8:00. If you’re not in the 8:00, someone else is. Always is. Sure enough, there he was, and 2 cannons made short work of battered probe.
I now had 4 zealots, a few pylons here and there, and I was harvesting gas like… a thing that harvests a lot of gas. I put all 4 of the zealots at the pass down into the natural, and I was fortunate to have done so, for Juilles was busy warping in 4 cannons right at my door. That was not to be had. I sent the four of them down into that little valley, and quickly mopped up all four of the freshly opened rifts. The pylon was also destroyed. I took this opportunity to secure my expansion, and as the Nexus began to warp in, I made a Pylon at the choke to look out for strange behaviour. It then occurred to me that my opponent had a poor sense of distance and judgment, for he began to warp in yet another pylon not that was just within my new pylons range of sight. I destroyed it before it could completely warp in.
Shortly after I built two cannons near the east of my mineral line at my main, my opponent attempted a small dark-templar drop. It was thwarted, but only after the loss of several probes. This set me back a bit, and I decided that I should hurry up with my planned reaver drop.
I made my Templar Archive and Citadel, even a Stargate and a Fleet Beacon, should I need them. I made a new, small, rarely-checked epansion at the 2:00 main. I had 5 reavers, all making scarabs, when that crazy opponent of mine decided to drop an archon, 2 reavers, and a few dark-templar to the west of my mineral line, where they began to wipe up some pylons I had built. My new reavers quelled this uprising, taking out the DTs even without the aid of a detector, thanks to the nifty thing we call splash damage.
I lost my cy-core and several pylons because of that half-assed attack. They were quickly rebuilt, and my last few reavers arrived (I now had 10 total, 2 of which would remain for defense). The shuttles and ever-useful dragoons were also ready to embark. My previous loss of two observers had informed me that a reaver drop on his main mineral line would not work. I scouted around, and found that the eastern ledge of his main was very un-guarded, with plenty of room for me to drop eight reavers AND 8 dragoons. So I did.
I ravaged his main with the reavers and dragoons, shearing his ass like wheat from a field, and I was Adun’s Scythe. His weak resistance of 6 cannons was no match. His few templar were slain, and only one managed to offend me with a storm. Here is the only screen I took from the battle, shortly after I raped his main:

As I wiped out his main, I loaded the reavers into the shuttles, and flew as far west as possible, then just north of his natural.
He had expanded. I sent the dragoons down the ramp into his expansion, to be greeted by the fire of photon cannons, with more in the making. As the first four dragoons arrived, I dropped the reavers at the mineral line. By the looks of things, this was a fresh expansion. I continuously swept my brutal war-machine east, until his final Pylon was crushed before the might of my dragoons. He had the nerve to ask me to ally.
I had to wait through a game set on Normal speed, and I dealt with his half-assed annoyances, and he wanted me to ally with him at the end? The enemy never deserves victory. And you know what? We both played a good game. We both fought hard, and defended ourselves well (well, he might not have defended himself quite as well as I did), and put our very souls into the heat of the battle. And with his defeat, he said to me “ur gay”. I’m gay? I believe his mother would say otherwise.
The final score revealed that I had severely stomped his lame self in all categories. The win was clearly mine, and my ladder score is now at 1000. Great.
Again, I’m terribly sorry for the lack of a replay for you good people to look over, as well as the lack of pretty pictures I had so desired to post. Your forgiveness, please. |
