In other words, this is a text only report. Enjoy =P
And we have ...
Xv-Fox[Blade] who is quite a good zerg player who’s strong points are strategies out of the blue and also constant pressure. Weak points are the occasional lack of mineral surplus during the heat of battle. Xv-Cat[Blade] is Katome. A good toss macro who’s very dangerous if allowed unchecked. His zealot/archon forces will overrun any zerg that slacks on troops. Anyway, there’s the intro now for the battle for control on the cold harsh terrain of the Temple grounds.
Fox starts off with the conservative double hatch in main from an 8 overlord, 11 hatch and 12 spawning pool at 9. An overlord is sent towards the 12 spot to rendevous with Cat later. The Cat opens up with an interesting 8 pylon, 12 gateway, 12 forge. Later on he proceeds to add another pylon at his natural choke at the 12. A probe was dispatched to scout out 9 position. The Executor soon adds two cannons and a zealot to defend his choke. His plans are unfurled as a Nexus is warping in during 25 control at his natural expansion. Fox opts for another hatch at his cliff for production and also defense should it be necessary. Now for those who doesn’t know Starcraft production speeds, 3 hatches will overrun 1 gateway. Harshly. Should the cannons suffice? We shall see ... Nearly two batches are lings are hatched and ready for attack ... Fox also began gas mining with an extractor readied with 3 drones.
A ling scout quickly met it’s demise when it was sent towards the 12 choke. Fox responded by expanding to his own natural as well as adding a hydra den for it’s deadly serpent warriors. Cat deigned for an assimilator as well as a core for cybernetic troops. However, though he is constantly pumping, it is only out of 1 gateway compared to the constant ling production from the yellow Cerebrate.
We are well into early midgame as a stalwart zealot is sent to brave the unknown. Quickly the pack of zerglings tear him apart with only a loss of one of their numbers. The purple Toss begins upgrading their weapons at the forge while a citadel is warped in no doubt to enhance leg movement. The Zerg has proceeded to evolve a lair as well as breed more mobile hydras. Both player’s expansions are now online. Cat realizes he can’t keep up in production and adds a gateway as well as call upon the archons for assistance.
Blood is soon spilt as the warcry of the Zealots Archon force engages the Hydralisks. A Zergling flank is set up and engaged. The enhancements to range attack kicks in right at the start of the battle and Cat withdraws his force seeing to bide his time till his new gates can produce. Also he is researching the devastating spell of Psionic Storm while constructing observers to probe his enemy’s weakness. Sensing an advantage, Fox orders another expansion into his mineral only. His overlords also is evolved for speed at the Lair of the swarm. Twin evolution chambers begins the range and carapace upgrades for the deadly spinal warriors.
Fox’s plan is clear as he begins full production of pure hydras. Once again the warcry is sounded as zealot/archons and templars moves out to engage the ravenous zerg hordes. At first the zerg seems to have the advantage once again. Many zealots are sent back to Aiur in pieces. However a crackle and a sizzle pierces the skies as the templars focus their psionic powers to shred the hydralisks. The tides of battle turns as entire waves of hydras melts into puddles of dead carcass. At the end, only a lone zealot and two drained high templars stands upon the center of the field. A high cost for victory indeed ...
Within the confusion a drone was sent to the 6 natural and proceeds for another hatchery. Cat’s gate count numbers no less than eight. It is matched dead even with Fox’s 6 hatcheries frantically producing hydralisk warriors to serve the Cerebrates’ end. A squad of hydralisks engages with another group of zealots, however thanks to a quick storm, they quickly meet their end at the psi blades of the warriors of Aiur.
Three observers spirals to oblivion at the ends of hydralisks with overlord support. A hive was constructed and 3/3 upgrades began for the hydralisks. The zealots were armed with a murderous +3 attack upgrade deigning to skip armor and shields for now ... The observer’s death was met with vengeance as zealots were dispatched to hunt down the offenders with the aid of another warrior of the templar cast. Also a squad of zealots has also been sent to raze the 6 o’clock natural. A deadly dance was begun between the zealots and the hydras in the center however the victor was apparent in the hands of storming and zealot flanks. The hydralisks were forced again and again to retreat. Triumphant over the last desperate stand of the Zerg warriors, the chosen of Aiur rampages through the zerg mineral only. Another defiant stand was attempted at the natural of 9 position however the Protoss is not to be denied. Fox withdraws from the Temple grounds leaving Cat the victor.
