Well, I'm still looking for a good opponent (hard to find on b.net these days amid all the BGH games), so I ICQ this guy who I had heard was pretty good. We head off to play on my friend's private server. So we're in the channel, and I tell him to create a game and we'll play. He disappears from the channel and I see a game "newbie stomping". I'm not sure who he is referring to, so I assume it was him at first, perhaps as a joke, or because he felt he was a newbie.

So we're sitting in the race selection area. The map is challenger. Funny thing happens, I start downloading the Challenger map. I'm thinking what the hell? I should have this. This dialogue pops up:

PJ: why am i downloading this, i should have it already?
NK: i modified it a bit for more minerals
PJ: o i c

(A $$$ map. Means this guy probably sucks, and I'll have to kill him quickly or it'll take forever)

NK: you don't want me to play zerg, or else you'll be petting zergies face to face
NK: what race are you playing?
PJ: random
NK: you should probably play zerg?
PJ: why?
NK: because zerg is easier for newbies to learn
(aha, so I'm the newbie he's going to stomp)
PJ: i'm no newbie
NK: duuuude, you have less than 10 wins
(of course, this is a private server, I've only played 8 games, and have a 5-3 record (3 losses on CPU games where my teammate died early and well, no fun to play by yourself)
PJ: whatever.. i'm ready

So I random and drop 'toss in the south and he picked toss and of course is north. I've no idea how good this guy is, but figure he's going to zealot rush me, as most overly aggressive and confident types of players usually do. So I pylon on 7 gateway on 10. I start scouting on probe 9 to see what he's up to, when I run across a probe outside my base warping in a pylon. Ah, trying to photon rush me. So I attack his probe w/ mine and when I'm low on health, send it back and replace it with another. The other probe kills his probe and start whittling away on the pylon. My first of two zealots warp in and joins in, soon followed by a second. During this time, he tries to warp in a cannon with a probe he brought down. Maybe I wouldn't notice all the action while I was busy watching my probes mine? :) So I smacked that probe and the cannon as well as the pylon.

He must be hurting now, because he just lost 9 supply, and this early in the game, that can be crucial. So I send my now 4 zealots up the map and lo and behold, he was warping a bunch of cannons, but not at the choke! On Challenger, there is a 2nd gas mine a bit off from the main, but in the same peninsula. He had built 4 cannons there, ready to crush the oncoming enemy. The problem was I didn't even come near the cannons... I skirted along the side and walked right into his probe line. Smack smack smack.. there went his assimilator and a bunch of probes.

I went back to my base to warp in a cyb core, another gateway and more zealots. I lost my zealots when he managed to bait my zealots into chasing his probes into his cannon line. Ooops. Not that I was concerned. I was no longer playing 100% because the game was already in hand. Up come 4 dragoons, which I have hold position next to his nexus. Hee hee.. and just for kicks, I shuttled in a reaver to blow up all his cannons. During the newbie-killer
stomping, he quipped

NK: how the hell did you get so many units so quickly?
PJ: lets see, i didn't build a forge and didn't lose a pylon
NK left the game.

Tee hee. After that, he wanted to play coop games with me vs cpu, which I obliged him. But this became more like 1v2 cpu games, because he would either quickly get annihilated, or in one game, decided to take a break for dinner while I played on. To show my appreciation, nuked his base to ashes just as he got back from dessert :)
