The other dudes name was, hmm, i forget. One of those really odd names like I...suck or iwilllosebigtime.
And his stats were 10-2. So, that, in addition to his name, was a pretty good indicator that this dude was good.
So, he did a gateway, gas, gate opening, hoping to own him with fast goons ( a truly innovative strategy that i just made up today ::rolls eyes::) He did a gateway, forge build. So at this point i'm like "omg what an idiot, he's soooo freaking dead."
But then i see that he's setting up an expansion at his natural. Sigh.
I bring down 6 goons and three zeals to take him on. They meet 2 cannons and 4 goons. The battle ensures, i win, with around 4 goons. But, alas, his reinforcements come, mine arrive too late, and i am forced to pull out.
A few more battles ensure at his expansion with me losing every time.
At this point, i got a reaver, so i'm thinking "wowzers, time to own his a$$"
The shuttle with the reaver leaves my base to hook up with my goons holding midway between our bases. At this point, his goons come walking in, and my recently dropped reaver is in the middle of this. Go recon. It maybe gets off one or two aimed shots and is then toast.
I run cowardly back to my base.
There, i have a reaver for support, and i manage to fend off hordes of goons with it. He has 4 gates cranking out mad goons, i got just 2. But i have tech!! Whoo hoo. I drop 4 dt's into his base, but they spend most of their time running around trying to dodge the observer flying around.
2 make it back home, in time for his final big assault.
Goons after goon piles into my base, met by a ring of goons and two reavers.
But alas, he owns me and i lose.
Lessons learned:
I never knew an early expansion like that worked in toss vs toss.
i'm beginning to hate the goon wars which so dominate toss vs toss games.
ladder's pretty annoying during the first few days since you have no way of knowing whether your opponent is going to be really terrible, or really good.
oh well, suprises are indeed nice.
Hmm, this should get a 5, eh?
