Today, I came upon the realization that I absoulutely suck at
terran, this is a problem, so I decided that the #1 way for me to
practice with terran, was to actually play as terran...since shareware
MADE you play terran, I decided to search my harddrvie for
the scdemo.exe that I used a LONG time ago and re-nstalled
the demo, fired it up, logged on to b.net and started a
game against any un-witting challenger.
Map: Byways
TheRubberDucky (me) Terran, top left
daaft (the un-witting challenger) Terran, bottom right
daafts record, 3-0-9
Since I don't normally play terran, I decided that I would just
follow some of the better terran players normal build (JV, *wink*
*wink*) by just doing a depot on 8 and a rax on 10, followed closely
by a 2nd rax on 14 and depot on 15...
I used my 8th SCV, and commanded him to venture south, into the
unknown region of "daaft" since I was fairly certain that he
would try to do some silly newbie trick, i.e. offensive refineries, I
was slacking off in my marine production, and had failed to build an
academy until around 19 supply.
When I did finally build an academy, I built a comsat station
directly afterwords, extremely upset about the 75 energy that I needed
for comsat (damn....) Around this time, instead of waiting for the
comsat gods to insert enough power into my comsat station, I sent 2
scv's to the rise in the map about half-way between our bases,
constructed 2 factories and a bunker. When the 2 factories finished I
added machine shops and que-ed up 10 tanks (I had a lot of money, even
though I had yet to expand)
I immediately expanded to the top right exspansion and set 3
bunkers full of marines nearby to fend off in-coming attacks. When the
evil and conspiratory daaft heard about that, he immediatly
gave me a piece of his mind, and attempted to taked it down with a
sizable force of about 40 marines, and 10 firebats, at 0/0 my 12
bunkered marines which we're 2/3 took care of them easily, since the
opposition seemed to be very enthusiastic about gettting to the other
side of the bunkers, rather than attacking them.
At the foward base I had constructed at the middle of the map
my 12th 0/0 tank had rolled off the line, to discover another load of
units, this time, opposing wraiths, a squadron of 24 had found my base,
and laid waste to it, and killing 3 of my tanks.
Right now, I had about 24 3/3 marines with stim and range, and
9 0/0 siege tanks, just itching to attack sumthing.. I took the time to
attack-move them to the front of the oppositions base, accompined by 4
scv's for repairs and bunkers if needed, maybe turrets if the wraiths
had cloak.
![]()
When I got down there his wraiths had mysteriously disappeared,
and I just used my scv's to repair my tanks.. I sieged them up in the
back, and just leapfrogged them foward, making sure to keep the marines
around, just incase the wraiths DID show up.
He also scared me to death, making me think he was about to
disconnect on me

I easily destroyed his base, and moved on to his exspansion,
which I have neglected mentioning up till now.

Around here it starts to get a bit wierd, and he is cussing me out for
the next five or ten minutes while I search everywhere for 1 remaining
building, which turns out to be a starport at the ledge by his old main.
He really pissed me off, and I got a lot of
really bad screen
shots of him cussing me off alot, but I'm sure younger
audiences
wouldn't have parental permission to see it.
Lessons Learned
------------------
-I'm not terrible with terran, I'm just a bit underskilled with them,
maybe I should limit playing with them to vanilla, since I really suck
when I go up against lurkers, and dark templar.
-Daaft is a real pain in the butt, to bad it wasn't real bw, or else I
would've had him banned from bnet hahahahahahahaha, but I don't think
they can do much more than i.p. bans, which is really hard to enforce.
-Building a foward base is cool, 12 tanks can really whoop a bunch of
marines en-route to your base.
-I'm gonna go play another zerg game, to see if I can get them back up
to par
