War
Hello again, this is my third Battle Report. Hope you enjoy!
A few days ago, I was hangin' out in nohunters futily trying to chat or get a game going, when I realized I was completely cut off from everyone. No one could hear me. Damn. I hate when that happens. Instead of being a lamer though, I showed my good faith and created a game called "1v1 Temple NO LAG" and within a minute some guy, who I refuse to identify for his sake (I'll call him Bob) joined up. His record was 200-23-5, so I was really afraid this was going to be a hella-lopsided victory for him. I got into my serious gaming mood, grabbed an ice cold soda (Damnit, I am too young to have some malt liquor.....), and we set off. Here's the game. Enjoy!
The map: Viva Le Loste Temple
The contestants: Phiber~Optik (chosen blue toss @ 6:00) VS Out{-=-}Bob (chosen yellow terran @ 12:00)
The Story So Far,
I did my standard opening: pylon on 7, then gate, gate, and assimilator, all while going MAD probes. Keokuk, my Koreon scouting probe, found my enemy at the 12:00 position. Bob had triple rax, a few marines, and some gas. Keokuk ran all over Bob's base, throughly pissing him off, before I ran him home, right through a bunker. Poor Keokuk........ Now however I had an idea of what I was up against: mass M&Ms with tanks probably. I knew my few zealots wouldn't stand up very long, so I threw up a forge, and a cye core while pumping zealots. His little containment force payed me a visit JUST as my cye core was finishing, and I dashedly built a Citadel. Terran containments are an absolute pain in the ass to break through if you let them get alot, so I sent my 15 or so zealots down to meet their demise. And I found...... 2 tanks, a bunker, and an SCV building a turret. My zealots took out his tanks, bunker, the 2, thats right TWO, marines that were inside the bunker, and that stupid scv. Good I thought. I did not put much thought into the attack (I only lost 3 zealots), instead I had built a robo facility AND a templar archives to counter his infantry. Around this point, I took my gimme and fortified it with a few cannons and 12 zealots + 6 dragoons, whose upgrades were at 1/1/1 now. Soon my observers clouded the map. I noticed my opponent had expanded TWICE already, so I thought, oh shit. Psi storm done researched, and I have 4 templars ready to go as well as a nice force of 18 zealots, 16 dragoons, observers, shuttles, and 2 new reavers. I tried a reaver + 2templar drop on his 9:00 expandsion, but my poor shuttle got locked-down and taking out by 4 wraiths. DAMNIT. I see him expanding AGAIN, this time to the 3 o clock start, but I dropped 4 zealots + 2 dragoons, and killed him before he could cancel. =) And so the midgame came into play.
The Mid-Game
Unlike the early-game, which was fairly un-eventful, the mid-game kept me on my toes the whole time. So here it is.
I took the bottom right island expandsion almost immediately after destroying his exp attempt. My upgrades were at 2/2/2 for ground and 1/1 for air, so I built 2 starports for corsairs. My poor observer was sitting helplessly in the center of the map when 4 bcs, 6 wraiths, a HUGE contingent of marines, bats, medics, tanks, and a few vessels came along and killed it. Shit, here he comes. There was a large chunk of my main that was undefended, and I figured he would stage his attacks there. Sure enough, he comsated me right there on the side, and I frantically sent all my guys to that side, and then what does he go and do, but attack me, FROM THE FRONT. DAMNIT, I quickly pulled my guys back to the front. I had at least a dozen templars or so but even that was not enough, he had his guys spread out so it was annoying as hell to hit him. Down fell my cannons to tank fire, but rather than go assault him directly, I waited for him to come to me. My upgrades were now 3/3/3 for ground and 3/2 for air. I had been pumping sairs like mad, and I had a control group in no time. His marines, bats, medics, and tanks were clumped up MAJORLY, but I couldn't get close to them because of pesky vessels and wraiths. My next attempt could have been complete sucide for me. I suicided sairs to get as much dweb over his marines and tanks as possible. Everything was white. The remaining sairs were sent after the vessels on kamakaze runs. I ran out my force of 24 dragoons, 24 zealots, and now 8 high templars. Storm, storm, storm, his marines, and tanks fell hard. 6 bcs can't do ANYTHING to 24 dragoons, as he found out the hard way. My casualties evened out at the loss of 6 dragoons, 6 zealots, and 8 high templars, not to mention all but 4 corsairs. Hehe. I was lucky as hell. Quickly rebuilding, I also expanded again to the 6, which he surprizingly hadn't taken yet. Go figure. Adding another 3 gates at my main, bringing the total to six, I kept pumping dragoons, zealots, high templar, and corsairs from my starports. I decided it wasn't fair that he got to have all the fun, so I sent the bulk of my attack force to his 9 exp. His 3 bunkers and 4 tanks were not match for my templar and zealots. I lost 6 zealots, he lost his base. =)
The tides were turning, but the war was far from over.
The end-game
Happily mining out of 5 bases, I had more resources than I could spare, so I built more reavers. I still had no idea what he was doing at his main, so I sent a whole bunch of hallucinated shuttles to his main. I saw *gasp* 6 command centers with nuke silos. Shit, and the silos weren't working. Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit......................
"Nuclear Launch Detected"
"Nuclear Launch Detected"
"Nuclear Launch Detected"
"Nuclear Launch Detected"
"Nuclear Launch Detected"
"Nuclear Launch Detected"
SHIT!
Six dots appeared all over my main. I frantically tryed to stop it. Unfortunately, I had no observers handy, so I told my reavers to randomly attack my buildings, in hopes of killing the ghosts with splash damage. The ghosts, it turns out, were HIGHLY clumped, and my reaver, randomly firing at my own stuff, managed to kill 4 ghosts. "HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT" came across the screen. I smiled, but my joy was only temporary, for 2 nukes still mananged to fall from the sky. Shit. I lost my nexus, 3 gates, 1 robo, 4 pylons, and one of my three starports. Somehow, the nukes missed my tech buildings. Whew! =) I still had a chance! The center of the map was my stage for the next attack, for I had accumulated 36 dragoons, 24 zealots, observers, corsairs, and high templars there. Sending hallucinated shuttles in, I saw once again the silos, this time they were building. Shit. The time was upon me to kick some ass. I had to work quick, or I would have to face 6 nukes again. My first target was his expandsion to the south of his main. It fell easily and I sustained no losses. I wondered why he only built nukes. Moving up the map, I prepared to assault his main, when 48 fully upgraded goliaths, attacked me from behind! WTF, how the hell did he do that? I was in awe, and at first too stunned to react. My senses came back however, and I stormed the hell out of him, but took heavy losses myself. In the end, I ended up with 24 dragoons, no zealots, and all my templar/corsair =) The time was now. I dwebbed his static defenses at the front-6tanks+4bunkers- and attacked full force. Templar stormed tanks, dragoons killed bunkers. I broke into his main with much effort because my dragoons couldn't fit at the same time on the ramp. I heard it again....................................
"Nuclear Launch Detected"
Only one nuke this time, I was lucky. Quickly I ran my dragoons up the ramp and into the heart of his main base. The nuke fell and wiped out most of his depots. My dragoons razed his main. I targeted his silos before he could nuke me again. He cursed. The waiting for players screen popped up. Jeez I thought, what a poor sport. In less than 15 secs though, he came back, and gave me a "gg" and left. Good Sport.
Lessons Learned:
1) Nukes are evil, very evil
2) Bait and lure tactics helped alot
3) Storm rules, it won me the game
4) dweb it awesome for completely screwing your opponent
5) I LOVE THIS WEBSITE
6) Hope you enjoyed!
