3v3's can be a tough proposition. Usually someone is smashed right away, and the rest of the fight is 2v3. This game was no exception.

Mark did a little bit of scouting and found Blank in the bottom corner. After a little more scouting he found the other two opponents. We were located fairly early as well.

Blank was by himself, so he was going to be lunch. Johnny, myself and Mark were going to see to that. Since I was the closest to the other two, I volunteered to bunker up, as I was expecting to be kicked around by the bad guys.

This was 'almost' the case.

The Bop went headlong into JV with 6 zerglings, forcing Johnny to defend himself. I dropped a pair of bunkers on my plateau, anticipating bad things. But since Johnny was under attack, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to go and crush Blank.

Mark and I coordinated the assault in the corner. With his 8 zealots, and my 7 marines, we proceeded to deconstruct Blank's base that had 5 zels and 2 cannons as defense.

About this time, Turmoil makes himself known to me, and maneuvers his marines around my bunkers and next to my depots. He levels 1, and proceeds to start smacking SCVs around. I give the order at Blank's base to disengage and return to my base. Turmoil is able to kick around my marines until the SCVs get into the action. They are able to fend off the marine incursion with the help of 2 new marines.

So we burned Blank to the ground. The front of Johnny's base became a killing ground. Coupled with the high ground advantage, he is able to fend zerglings, hydras and M&M.

Soon Mark4 and myself expand to bottom right and top center edge respectively. Things get really quiet for me, and I'm left to my own devices. I begin to turbo up my economy, do a little research on marine upgrades (of all varieties), and get to tanks.

Meanwhile, bop and turmoil launch repeated attacks against Johnny, but Johnny stands firm. Lurkers, mutas and eventually guardians fall. Between Mark4 and Johnny, they are able to withstand repeated attacks.

Our opponents are unable to expand. This is very bad for them.

Soon enough, I roll into the Terran main and siege up. I tear up a defending bunker and a supply depot before proceeding into his main. His troops are 0/0 and mine are 1/1, making for a rather lopsided battle. After beating his main in the corner, we all proceed to close the ring around Bop. He calls good game, and we all finish up.

Lessons learned:
- Coordination and communication is key. We were talking up a storm on what we were planning. Mark and Johnny made their objectives known, and I was able to maximize force where needed.
- Most 3v3 games are about ganbanging one of the players and fighting a 2v3 after that. Make sure you are part of the 3 by coordinating your attack against 1 opponent (preferrably the isolated opponent).
- I like the map Grand Canyon for 3v3. If you use map settings, you are placed on one side or the other. You just can't cheese rush your way to victory.
- Upgrade your low level units in a 3v3. 9 times out of 10, that's all you'll use until control is established by one side or the other.
- Mark4 and Johnny are damn fine teammates. It was an honor to play with them. Bop, Turmoil and Blank played well. Especially Bop. He kept up the pressure even when things were looking shitty for his team.

Battle Shots!

Mark and I projected force on Blank. We both knew what we were doing. Blank was gonna have a real tough time.

A well-controlled assault into my peon area. I ended up having to weld brown's ass shut.

Extreme viloence. Johnny is a sick bastard for killing all those defenseless medics. Ah well...

Me rolling into brown. No crazy tactics. Just move forward and fight.

Do Zealots drink beer? I brought a sixpack to find out at the party afterwards.
