Well, this is my second attempt at a battle report. And I dare say that it's better than my last one. The last one I was playing in a 2v2, so I missed a lot of stuff. This time I was watching a 1v1 between a couple of good players. Note that a few of my pictures are animated. So, without further ado, I bring you:

Johnny
Vegas

VS

BARAGE

JV started out with a 2 rax build. Johnny's SCVs whined all throughout the game, I might add.

JV's starting build

Where Barage opted for early gas, which would become a heavy metal build. The SCV laments the smell of Vespene.

Barage's starting build

At this point JV scouted Barage and saw the early gas, and cancelled his 2nd barracks soon after, starting his own refinery and switching to match Barage's factory first build. You can see the SCV's reaction.

I might add that Barage had his gas fully operational before JV had his refinery even halfway done. Barage has started on two factories before JV starts on his first. At this point my money was on Barage. Barage also beats JV to a machine shop. He has seige researching before JV's first shop finishes. Right after both factories finish on both sides, JV starts on a starport and academy, where Barage starts on a starport and armory, slightly after JV starts his starport. The armory is finished when the academy is about 70% done.

JV then builds an e-bay, and starts an expansion at the 3 o'clock main.

and then builds a bunker in Barage's natural. A tank puts a stop to that. Soon after Barage builds a third factory, an academy, and starts putting up turrets (but no cc yet) on the southeast island.

I figured Barage had it in the bag.

JV decided to try to drop Barage's main with the contents of two dropships.

I'm not sure what was in them, other than one tank that got out before a valkyie and a goliath put down one of the dropships.

JV said that he would have done better but the dropships didn't unload when he told them to. SURE, JV. ;-)

JV now has a barracks at his exp at 3, as well as a factory under construction. Around this time Barage also started on the CC in the southeast island.

The SCV sings to pass the time, isn't that cute?

JV starts setting up shop just north and a little west of Barage's empty natural. First 4 tanks, then 6. The SCV building the turrets swears revenge for the death of JV's first drop.

That's me commenting on JV's complaint that I'm watching him too much (I'm learning all his strats, hehe)

JV has also started an expansion at the 9 o'clock main, though I didn't notice this until Barage puts a small drop on it. JV cancels the expansion but destroys the drop with some newly placed tanks, almost due north of Barage's main CC.

The drop....

The tanks!

In addition to destroying the drop, the tanks also kill a machine shop, an armory, and force two factories to move. During this time JV took the 3 o'clock Natural.

This armory burned down, I believe. I don't think it was destroyed by a tank blast. Could be wrong, of course. :-)

After fortifying his forward position slightly, JV takes the 9 o'clock natural instead of the main, and then Barage decides to drop JV's main. It succeeds in destroying some SCVs and some supply depots, damaging a science facility and severely pissing JV off.

JV trucks in some more tanks from his base into Barage's natural, about 8 total so far. Then Barage does something surprising and pulls a turbo-newbie on the 9 o'clock natural! It actually suceeds, mostly because all that's there is an SCV and a CC, so JV lets it go.

JV begins bring in MORE tanks to Barage's natural, about 12 total, and some science vessels for "gay matrix" (which, to be fair, JV uses very well, if not a bit gratuitously).

After hanging around a bit in the natural, JV suddenly and violently pushes into Barage's main base, bringing along some goliaths and vultures.

If you look at the minimap during the minimap battle, you can see Barage doing something in the 3 o'clock main. I don't remember what it was because my attention was on the incursion at hand. During the fight, JV brings in some marines and medics. I think it was the first medic I saw all game, despite having seen academies long ago.

The marine is vying for attention, and fails because Deon already has claim. :-)

Barage tries to fly away his buildings. One of his factories escapes pretty much unscathed, but his starport is not so lucky, and his CC is dropped into the red, and burns down in the air slowly. During this time Barage goes nuts on his only expansion, the southeastern island. Unfortunately he has lost his e-bay (and for some reason never rebuilds it) so the turrets are limited.

Last holdout of the defeated. Poor man.

At this point I actually NOTICED that Barage had successfully floated some buildings away (I had figured they had gotten shot down), and I take a shot of his slowly combusting CC, while I'm commenting on my "ungodly" 49 screenshots for the game in total.

I feel truly sorry for the occupants. (snicker)

Barage builds about 6 wraiths, and give matrices to half of them, meanwhile JV has monopolized most of the map. On the way to the northwest island, the wraiths pass by a stray missile tower (only god or JV knows why it was put there) and they stop to attack it and one of them gets shot down before they continue on to the northwest island. Once there they actually succeed in razing an expansion.

During this time, JV discovers the southeastern expansion (or at least finally scouts it), Barage's original CC lands and then burns down before it can be repaired and then shortly after JV lays the smackdown on Barage's final base.

The remaining defenders fight valiantly.... and get shown their own butts, courtesy of JV's gay-matrixed tanks and goliaths. One of the vessel captains gets bored and decides to take out one of his hidden radioactive joints. His life was good.

At this point, Barage takes my advice and wisely surrenders after "gg"s are exchanged. And now the ever-popular, if not now cliche, MINIMAP BATTLE!!!

Sorry about the pointer in several of the frames, I wasn't watching where I was putting it. >_<

Lessons Learned:

1. Johnny_Vegas is incredible at playing terran (most of the time)

2. Johnny_Vegas finds it incredibly irritating when observers talk too much (I did this and the next game I watched I spent in total darkness of his base as it wasn't an ob map. Again, sorry JV)

3. Barage needs an ego boost (taken by his comments I heard both in this game and other games)

4. Aping YRM's imaging style may or may not be good or bad, I haven't figured it out yet

5. Even in a 1v1 where you're observing, you forget to take shots of cool things, or you just flat out MISS something

Thank you, I hope you enjoyed my semi-excellent report of an entertaining game.
