It had been a long time…
…almost too long. It wasn’t until recently that I had the courage to reopen the Shandy Files. It had been a long time since the awful double 4-pool that had traumatized Shandy and sent me to the far ends of the earth looking for peace…
But fate would not let us rest…
…the mysterious man in black had visited Shandy and me, and he wanted us to know the truth. Already, two Shandy Files had been opened and the information was starting to trickle out. I knew the trickle would soon be a flood. I was caught in the middle of something that I had tried to avoid for too long…
…It was a week after the files were first out in the open that I received a hastily scribbled note under my back door. It read:
The danger is real. You and Shandy must remember the past, for it may determine your future. The Shandy Files must be reopened and examined. I must be breif, for my life is at stake, but events have been set in motion that only you and Shandy can stop. Stay alert for further details… Oh yea, don’t forget to walk your dog.

There are some who wanted us to know the truth… and it was appearant that others wanted the files kept secret. It was time to dig deeper…

File Description: The Adventures of Spunk and Shandy Part II
Enjoy.

Shandy and I were really getting to be an unstoppable duo. With the help of Shandy’s tutoring, my skills had improved and our elite tactics were a step above the rest. We started up a game on hunters, hoping to get a tough pubbie matchup. To our surprise, the two players that came in, [RYU]skytiger and 5th-PLATOON, were both players that had previously defeated us. Ahh…the sweet smell of challenge.
As the game started, I spawned as red zerg at 6:00 and Shandy was purple zerg at 9:00. We would later find skytiger as orange toss at 2:00 and platoon as white toss at 5:00. Shandy and I each immediately started putting our gosu tactics to work. We were playing Korean rules, which meant: NO FLYER!!. Shandy suggested that we build on each others’ creep, so I opened with a pool…on his creep. He 2-hatched by moving his drone out of his base and planning to put a hatch whereever the drone was when he hit 300 mins. His hatch ended up just outside of my natural. Shandy started to build mass sunkens on the creep from both hatches as soon as his pool was done, and I announced my plan to burrow rush, then cover the map with creep. I immediately researched burrow and sent out some lings for some recon. Seconds later, one of my burrowed lings provided some valuable information: the opponents had both gone for zealots and a pack of 8 zealots was heading to do some damage. They noticed the creep outside my natural, but Shandy and I had morphed 5 sunkens, so the zeals went straight to Shandy’s main in hope of an easy kill. These were no normal pubbies…they knew what they were up to. Upon reaching Shandy’s base, skytiger and platoon were faced with 5 more sunkens. Obviously, these sunkens were not as dangerous as the other 5, because they charged their zealots in. Shandy, however, has a black-belt in sunken microing, and defended the rush with minimal losses. The opening moves had been made…

I relied solely on Shandy for defense and began to pump drones like there was no tomorrow. I then sent drones to every start spot on the map that was open and began to morph hatcheries…I wanted to cover the map with creep! skytiger and platoon had been quiet, and I soon learned why. One of my drones spotted skytiger trying to expand to the 11:00 natural. Obviously he was choosing the oddest spot possible to expand in because he figured we wouldn’t scout there. Ha. Shandy quickly brought some lings to dispatch of this expansion. I had hatches morphing at my natural, 3:00, 12:00, 11:00, and 7:00. Soon after I expanded to the 3:00 natural and the 7:00 natural. The pubbies, however, weren’t about to give me so much control. A squad of zealots destroyed the 12:00 hatch, despite help from Shandy’s lings. This forced me to heavily sunken my vulnerable 11:00 expansion. Suddenly I heard the awful sound of cannons warping. NOT CANNONS! If there is one imbalance in SC, it is the mass cannon imbalance… luckily for me, these pubbies were too chobo to mass cannon. Only about 8 cannons were warping in above my new 3:00 hatchery, while more zealots pounded on the 3:00 natural hatch. A desperately threw some lings at the cannons and erected some sunkens, hoping to stop the offensive cannon. It was to no avail, however, as the cannons began to beat like hail on my hatchery. Score one for the pubbies.

Shandy, meanwhile, was busy teching to queens, part of my patented “queen rush” strat that I taught him. After losing 3 expansions, I re-expanded to 12:00 and began to build drones to get my economy rolling. platoon had been quiet though…too quiet. Without warning, platoon barged into my base with 6 corsairs and 4 reavers in shuttles. BAD MANNER!! NO FLYER!! The corsairs were obviously in violation of the Korean rules (that the pubbies didn’t know about), so Shady and I weren’t too happy…but we would continue anyway. As the reavers shredded my main, Shandy was quick with the ensnare, and we both poured lings at the reavers (because lings OWN reavers) but in the end the reavers triumphed. Luckily for me, the only thing at my “main” was a hatchery and drones. My pool was in Shandy’s main…the strat had helped after all ;).
Things were looking grim, for these pubbies weren’t so pubbieish. I quickly put up an evolution chamber and a multitude of spores to defend against the chobo air attack. platoon attempted to overlord hunt, but the spores were just too gosu.
platoon continued on his reaver rampage by dropping them on my 7:00 expansion. Once again, the green goo of ensnare covered the units and lings died by the truckload, but the evil reavers finally died after wreaking the expansion. Shandy was also using scourge at this time, and was able to take out a good number of corsairs with them. My expansions kept dropping, but I had so many that my economy wasn’t suffering too much… the two toss players were just getting started, but then again, so were Shandy and I…

Shandy took the opportunity to launch and attack on platoon. Using the patented “Shandy trap” he lured platoon’s zealots into the sunkens (which now covered the middle) and ensnared the zealots so that they couldn’t run from the sunkens. It was so beautiful I almost cried. Shandy’s advance was stopped, however, by the sight of cannons outside of platoon’s natural. While this was going on, I decided to use my economy to build 10+ hatches next to the 11:00 natural. I finally spawned my first non-pool tech building, a spire, after morphing a lair at 11:00. I only did it for scourge, however, to make sure the opponents had NO FLYER!!
My “hatchery push”, as Shandy called it, at the 11:00 natural was expanding, and I was starting a sunken push towards the 3:00 base. A few small skirmishes soon followed, the most noticeable was skytiger’s 2 reaver drop on my 12:00 expansion. It was somewhat destructive, but lings from all my hatches were able to quell the threat. The toss players had a huge unit advantage, but my economy and Shandy’s good looks kept us in the game.

All was quiet for a bit, as I set up an ultra den and Shandy went for defilers. I was a bit disappointed that only about ½ the map was covered in creep, but I hoped the ultras could help make some more space :). All of a sudden things exploded. platoon hit my expansion at the 6:00 natural with sairs, reavers, and an arbiter. The scourge were able to take out arbiter and the lings slowly wore away at the reaver, but the cloaked reavers really hurt. As I wondered why skytiger hadn't attacked for a while, the answer was thrust back in my face as about 12 carriers cloaked by two arbiters started to decimate the sunken push in the middle of the map. These carriers were a gosu tactic, but were totally in violation of the NO FLYER!! rule. I used my mass hatches to spawn 14 ultras, and sent then into skytiger’s base. skytiger was destroying us, while my ultras destroyed his main. It was turning into a game of who could kill who faster. Shandy was running desperately low on minerals, but kept hitting the carriers with plague and ensnare to make them visible and following up with scourge. I morphed as many scourge as I could, and sent my ultras to 3:00 after they had destroyed skytiger’s main at 2:00. skytiger’s carriers pounded against my ultras backs (back rubs!) while scourge pounded against the carrier’s hulls. Storm ripped through the skys and ensnare was everywhere. A small beaver chewed through a tree in Northwest Oregon (don’t ask). skytiger had managed to wipe the whole center of the map clean, and had almost defeated us, but the ultras and scourge put him and his carriers to rest. skytiger left without a word, but had almost taken us out…only platoon remained…

platoon was low on money however, and after the fall of his comrade, he was simply a bug in the S&S windshield. He had one last blaze of glory by destroying my 12:00 expansion with a reaver drop, but the reavers just couldn’t stop the ultras. He begged for us to ally, but he was such a good player that we refused his offer and gave him an honorable death (if you call death by mass ultras and lings “honorable” =P) After the game, he also had some sweet things to say…

This file’s featured strats: NO FLYER!! and the entire map creep.
…As I turned off the computer I knew that there was no turning back. We had only skimmed the surface of the Shandy files, there was so much left unexplained. Who were they people trying to help us? Who were the people against us? What was the truth? Why is wallaby such a pimp?
