Hi folks, and welcome to my commencement into the battle report world.
My first effort is a nice little 1v1 match between Naurgi and ALLextrem. After a long effort looking for a fight to report on, (People seem to think observers
cheat) I got Naurgi to let me watch his match.
Naurgi chose Zerg in pre-game, while ALLextrem decided on fate's hand. Fate, not wanting to be anyone's bitch, handed ALLextrem back a designation of
Zerg. Zerg/Zerg is always neat, but I knew it would simply boil down to a match of skill, as it always does in same race face-offs.
The battle started quite laid back, as the players churned out the drones and mined the precious blue
crystals. After each had about ten of said drones they took decidedly different direction. ALLextrem
started cranking out the zerglings while Naurgi began to place sunken colonies around his base. In
addition, Naurgi was still pumping out the drones, while ALLextrem focused prominently on the
"lings".
At this point both started to construct more hatcheries, as if they were trying to outdo each other on
how many they could haphazardly produce as quickly as possible. ALLextrem built three hatcheries,
upgraded one to a Lair, and stopped. Only one was mining minerals at that time. Naurgi had
constructed his second hatch in a position to harvest, and used it to his full advantage. He placed his
other to the side and continued to crank out drones.
And then
the great
arming of
the two
forces
began. ALLextrem had the lead on units, as he had succeeded in
producing 24 zerglings to guard his gate, alongside his two sunken
colonies. While Naurgi had spent most of his time bulking his
defenses, he had no attacking forces to speak of, spare the drones
should he have sent them on a quick little death mission. Finally, he
set down a Hydralisk Den and began the overdue production of
troops, focusing entirely on hydras.

About now, my cat walks into the room, vomits a snake onto the
carpet, then walks away. Normally I'd get right up and clean it, but
the game was going on and everything, so I turned back the
computer.
I took a quick look back at ALLextrem's base to find him in the
production of two Evolution Dens to add to the preexisting one. I can tell that he is focusing on unit upgrade, which leads me to believe he can beat Naurgi in an
equal force match, due to the fact that he has built only the mandatory first Evolution Den.
Quickly that theory becomes obsolete.
As I turn back to Naurgi's base, I see three buildings under construction, and discover that they are all hatcheries, heavily fortified in the patch of twelve sunken
colonies. Now it becomes clear to me that Naurgi can churn out units without regard to cost, as he has over twenty drones in the rear raking in the cash.
I told one of my SCV's to kill the other, and watched as one murdered the other by sending sparks onto it.
Anyway, back to the action.
Let's take a second to recap the game thus far.
Naurgi-

ALLextrem:

Sunken Colonies:4
ALLextrem then upgrades his primary hatchery to a Lair. At Naurgi I can't help but notice he has no aerial defenses, but he doesn't seem to share my concern.
He had used his new hatcheries to produce twenty Hydralisk, but they were in front, far from the area of his base that needed the most air protection.
Back at ALLextrem's base, he was using his new spires to produce the dreaded mutalisks, and
built up a force of ten. He hadn't done much else, other than to build two oddly placed Creep
Colonies north of his base.
Suddenly, ALLextrem used half his mutalisks to initiate the first attack of the game. Five of
the flying zerg flew over the river separating the bases and attacked a hatchery. Smartly
moving out of the range of the lone spore colony, they attacked until a group of hydras moved
up and dispatched them. I moved down to check on Naurgi's Hydralisk status, and found the
most shocking scene of the game thus far.
THE GREAT HYDRALISK ARMY
Without my knowledge, Naurgi had accumulated close to one-hundred hydralisks in front of
his base, and I was flabbergasted. Actually, it wasn't that surprising, considering the fact that
Naurgi had the ability to order 18 at once, but the sheer size of it compared to ALLextrem's
force was amazing. I believe the word I used in my notes was "Shitload".
Anyway, ALLextrem was moving along, with his new 4th hatchery and a total of 12 mutas (snicker). Off in the northeast corner, Naurgi built his first expansion,
giving him a total of 7 hatcheries.
Naurgi then took a force of 5 hydras, ran them up to ALLextrem's base, and ran around, scouting for the attack to come, while being harassed by the ensuing
mutalisks ALLextrem used to defend with.
This added emphasis on ALLextrem's base makes me realize that he has focused heavily on evolution, constructing four evolution chambers and two separate
spires. Unfortunately this had given him little time and cash to pump out those precious units he so desperately needed.
And then the ground moved.
I glanced at the radar an saw a huge blotch of blue move towards ALLextrem's choke point. And that could mean only one thing. Operation HYDRA was
underway.
Not to stop the excitement or anything, but I'd like to mention that I was eating pop-tarts for lunch, and at the time crumbs were all over my desk, causing many
a problem as I attempted to write my notes over them.
The horde stopped at the end of the base's bridge, and sat there. A single hydra moved forward enough to lure twenty zerglings back to their deaths, and
repeated the process taking a mutalisk as well. ALLextrem moved in with hopes of taking out this threat, but was met with the realization of the sheer size of the
Naurgi's Hydralisk Army. After a brief minute of fighting, Naurgi came out victor over the bubbling remains of the fallen ALLextrem warriors.
Moving into the base, the Hydralisk Army was hit by the sunken colonies, which demanded retaliation on the full level. The mob moved about, taking all of the
defenses out in the base, then hit the hatcheries. Despite being hit by a few newly produced mutalisks and zerglings the flock fended off all challenges remaining,
then finished off ALLextrem by taking out his two extractors.
Game, Set, Match: Naurgi.
What did we commit to assimilate into our minds today?
1) Against a Zerg commander who doesn't really know how to use Zerg properly, a gigantic Hydralisk Army can kick some serious ass.
2) Never eat Pop-Tarts when writing notes for a battle report.
3) Cats that consume snakes can and will vomit them forth onto carpets.
4) Never write a fourth choice when you can't think of something to put there.
