Hey, there you are. Glad you could make it. This is the second half of a two-parter I wrote. You can see the first half by clicking here. Now, if you are ready to continue the Report, do yourself a favor and go take a bathroom break... ... ...back? Good. Here's a little recap for you. I have just suffered a huge loss in the
death of Billy, the Zergling full of loveable antics. Isaac_Draco currently has his melee upgrades at +3 while I am still stuck on +1. So far, I have been rather defensive the whole game--now was the time to strike back!
Morale was at an all-time low. There was not a dry eye in my base as each unit shed a tear for poor Billy. We would never again witness one of his lovable antics.
During our shocked sorrow, Isaac_Draco viciously repeated his attack on my 12:00 expansion with Zerglings, once again pushing through the Sunkens only to be finished off by my Hydras.

After this defeat, Isaac_Draco proceeded to send a few Mutas to my main base to test the waters. The Spore colonies there were adequate to chase him away.
A quick check on Isaac_Draco's main showed a huge number of Mutas sitting there, apparently waiting to attack. I decided to assemble a strike force of Hydras and Defilers to fight the Mutas on his own turf, and proceeded to load up four Overlords, three full of Hydras and one filled with two Defilers and some Zerglings to eat. The Overlords crept up to the edge of Isaac_Draco's main and studied the situation. I didn't see many Zerglings, so I knew that Dark Swarm should be effective.
Just to be sure, I dropped 4 Overlords full of Zerglings on his second expansion, clear across the map in the upper left corner. The Zerglings easily beat up the undefended Drones while intentionally ignoring the Nydus Canal.
Sure enough, after my guys did considerable damage, enemy Zerglings began pouring out of his Nydus. After they seemed to stop coming, I destroyed the Nydus, effectively separating his Zerglings from his main base--I would be safe to use Dark Swarm during my assault on the Mutas.
Special thanks goes to Twip, who demonstrated this maneuver very well in his excellent battle report "1v1 Sherwood Fun" One of my very favorite reports written, it contains an outstanding narrative!

Patting myself on the back, I returned my attention to the strike force waiting within the Overlords. To my dismay, the Overlords had been seen by five or six Mutas and were all dead but one, which contained the Defilers. (I guess that it wasn't a perfect plan after all--d'oh!) I was able to unload a single Defiler and burrowed him before the Overlord popped like a goober. It just so happened that the Overlord had been chased towards my base, so Defiler was pinned down directly between our main bases.
Well, that attack was a failure, but not a total failure. The burrowed Defiler was able to spot a large cluster of Mutas and (gulp) Guardians crouched and ready to attack my main.
Fortunately, by now I had a large number of Mutas of my own and this time, since it was air units, I had the upgrade advantage! I attacked his Mutas by focusing fire on one at a time. Isaac_Draco had the choice of retreating or pressing on. He decided to counter attack my Mutas with his own, and advance his Guardians into my base.
Luckily, since I had seen them milling around, I had known to position a group of Hydras and a Defiler at the edge of the base. Defiler cast Dark Swarm, and my Hydras easily defeated the Guardians. Once my Mutas had finished up, they came and helped destroy the last Guardians.
A moral victory! My troops felt their first boost since Billy had given his life. Maybe this life was worth living, after all.
Isaac_Draco responded to this by attacking my 12:00 expansion with a few Mutas, but they were scared away by new Spore Colonies and Hydras.
This was followed by a small attack of Zerglings at my main base. I had at least 12 Mutas and 12 Guardians there, as well as any ground units, so that attack was rather easily quelled.

I decided to get on the offensive and sent a number of Mutas to his second expansion, the one in the upper left corner. They were successful in destroying his drones and bullied the Zerglings there, eventually tearing down the Hatchery. Then I sent them down to Isaac_Draco's first expansion, in the lower right corner.
They met a few random enemy Mutas there, but by concentrating their attacks, my Mutas killed them. Isaac_Draco immediately started three new Mutas at the hatchery there while I attacked his drones. Things were looking good; Issac_Draco had lost an expansion and was about to lose another...his income would be reduced to one-third of what it had been.
At the same time, I sent 12 Mutas and 12 Guardians from my main directly south to his base. I had my Mutas focus fire on his, while my Guardians attacked the tech buildings. I was expecting a strong Hydra retaliation, but the only thing I saw was a huge army of Zerglings. I felt absolutely safe; my Mutas were slowly winning the air-to-air battle and those Zerglings were nothing but cannon fodder for my Guardians.
Then Isaac_Draco made an excellent move. Hell, it was his only move, but it was a damn good one. His Zerglings were useless against my air units that were tearing up his base, so he sent them up to my under-defended main. With all my flying units off attacking his main, I was completely unprepared to handle such a large number of Zerglings, and things looked grim:

In doing so, he also split my attention between three battles...one at my main base, one at his main base, and one at his lower expansion (remember I had Mutas down there).
This posed an interesting question: do I send my Guardians back to help defend, or continue my assault? Over the course of the battle, Isaac_Draco had hatched a large number of Mutas in his main, tilting the air--to--air battle in his favor. Instead of replacing my fallen Mutas, I used all my hatcheries to make troops to defend at home. (The obvious choice would have been to make more Mutas, since they would be free to attack the enemy Zerglings and would have been able to help my Guardians. Unfortunately, I demonstrated my true incompetence by creating Hydras and Zerglings :( )
At this point, the Guardians were now on their own—Isaac_Draco had killed all my Mutas. Retreating to my base would lead his Mutas there, and my Spore colonies were falling fast. Staying meant the almost certain demise of my Guardians, but his base would be in tatters. I decided to keep my Guardians where they were. Suddenly it was a race to destroy each other's buildings. Meanwhile, my other Mutas were still fighting at his first expansion point, eventually finishing it off. They went north to Isaac_Draco's main to help, but were quickly overpowered. My Guardians, while taking a beating, continued to pound on his tech buildings.
My base was getting damaged all the more while this was happening:
I kept replacing guys but it wasn't fast enough. The upgrade difference was brutal. Out of panic I evacuated a drone and started a new expansion at the lower left.
Finally, the fighting was over; we had both run out of troops. My base was in ruins, but so was his. I still had retained most of my tech buildings while all of his had fallen. All my Guardians were dead, but so were all of his Zerglings. Isaac_Draco overestimated my condition and said he was conceding; he was out of gas. I was in pretty shitty shape myself, so I told him not to quit--this was too good of a game to let end. He agreed somewhat half-heartedly.
After a brief period of re-organization and re-building, I decided to check his second expansion (the first one I had destroyed, in the upper left corner). I found some Drones mining there, and a brand new Spawning Pool. Rounding up some Zerglings, I attacked the expansion...

...and destroyed the Spawning Pool. To my surprise, he hatched more Zerglings! And then more! He had another Spawning Pool somewhere…anyway, my Zerglings were finally defeated and his expansion stayed.
By now I was low on resources (my main was nearly dry), so I directed the Drones at my main to the new expansion at the lower left. On their way, they passed a new expansion of Isaac_Draco's at the mineral only resource node located at the center left of the map, complete with a Spawning Pool, two hatcheries, and a million Drones mining like mad. Oh yeah, there was also a small yet threatening army of Zerglings
Dammit! I had to shut that thing down fast. My troops were reluctant to run into battle after fighting so hard. I had to rally them, so I reminded them of our situation:
They may cut your dick in half
And serve it to a pig!
And though it hurts, you'll laugh
And dance a dickless jig!
But that's the way it goes
And while you're shat upon,
Though we die
La Resistance lives ON!
Knowing that Isaac_Draco's melee STILL out-upgraded me (pathetic, I know), I needed to use trickery. After parasiting one of the guarding Zerglings, I had Defiler creep up and plague them. They chased him back to a control group of my Zerglings...by the time Isaac_Draco's Zerglings got there, the plague had done its full effect and his warriors fell like a house of cards.
___ ___
My Zerglings quickly ran down and attacked the drones. Isaac hatched new Zerglings, which finished mine off.
I played the old plague trick on him again, only this time the infected Zerglings met Hydras. The Hydras killed every Zergling and then continued to tear down the expansion. It took a while, but eventually Issac_Draco had lost another expansion.
Suddenly, there were more damn Zerglings flooding my barren base. Where in the hell were they coming from?? My few Mutas there were doing their best, but needed help when Isaac's Mutas arrived. I got Defiler to plague his Mutas, driving them off. Unfortunately, Defiler plagued his own comrades, too, resulting in their death. Way to go, Defiler...you dumbass.
I needed to get the Hydras that had just destroyed Isaac's expansion back up to my main…they began running northward while my base was being demolished by endless Zerglings. Finally the Hydras arrived, but they were easily overwhelmed:

It was the end. I had one working expansion (my first one was dry) and no tech buildings. There was no choice but to submit to the Swarm…Kerrigan's cerebrate had succeeded in defeating me.
Back at the Main Hive, I was put on trial for being a traitor. When Kerrigan called me up to her throne to receive judgement I said, "No speaka English." Kerrigan got really pissed and yelled at Isaac_Draco for getting the wrong guy. Then she apologized for wasting my time and gave me a coupon for a free small order of breadsticks at Mario's Pizza. I got the hell out of there but stopped outside to brag about my escape to a passing Drone. The little punk turned me in so I was captured after all.
That was two weeks ago. I am currently serving my punishment: I have to wipe Kerrigan's rear end after every time she...errr...goes number two. I only get single-ply toilet paper, and I only get to use one square at a time. On the bright side, my sentence is served after thirty years and Kerrigan has finally started wiping her ass. But I have not forgotten…
Kerrigan thinks she has won...
The enemy forgets.
But my passion will not die,
We will not be her pets!
All our hopes and dreams,
And friends who are now gone…
Amid defeat,
La Resistance…lives on!

Notes:
- I'm embarrased in how Isaac_Draco had me beaten in upgrades. I'm usually very anal about upgrading my guys, but during this game things were going too fast for me to concentrate. It certainly was the deciding factor in many of our battles. Well, I guess it's a lesson learned the hard way.
- I also allowed myself to be out-resourced...or did I? The Resources scores were rather close despite Isaac_Draco having more bases than me for nearly the entire game. Hmm...
- gosuchobomaltliquorhukhuknodisck?
- During those big fights at my main, more Hatcheries would have been very nice.
- When fighting Mutas vs Mutas, I wish I had hatched at least six Scourges. Six little Scourges can change the flow of battle in a heartbeat. My Mutas would have lasted a bit longer.
- Once again, parasites allowed me to survive much longer than I deserved to. Isaac_Draco was pretty careless in checking his guys for parasites, and my knowledge of his strategy (mass Zerglings) should have helped me win. (Doh)
- Isaac_Draco's multiple Spawning Pools saved his ass at the end of the game. If I had destroyed his only one, his Zergling production would have been halted for several long minutes.
Well, that's it. I hope you liked this Battle Report. I didn't know it would get so damn long and image heavy; I hope it managed to retain your interest. Please comment...did I use too many images? Too much useless crap? Too wordy? It didn't need to be in two reports? Tell me.
