| A fight on Lost Temple | | | Author: | | | IP: | moola.tcXXXX | | Date: | 05/07/00 10:05 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | none | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 1, Max: 6, Min: 6 Lifetime Rating for MDK88: 6.5000 | | I have had a very bad day, loosing many a battle. Then I saw this in the game list on Battle.Net 1:1 Lost Tempe, so I joined and the host very graciously decided to start the game.
I randomed and drew protoss at the 3 o'clock start. He randomed and he got zerg at the 9 o'clock start. Feng was sitting right next to me in my house, telling me to build the pylon at 6 or 7 probe, I ignored him and built it at 8, explaining to him why I like to get the pylon at 8(including the fact that 8 is a lucky number if you're chinese).
I discovered him soon enough at the 3 o'clock spot and saw a spawning hatchery at the top of the ramp. I immediately rallied my 1st zealot to his spawning hatchery and once my second gateway was done, I did the same for it. Alas, the attack failed and I lost many a warrior to his canine like zerglings that Akiel is so fond of.
Then, I mustered up more zealot warriors and decided to call home and ordered an assimilator and forge to be warped into my fledgling base. He attacked me with a medium sized force of zergling beasts put I managed to repel it with my stoic warriors. I had amassed quite a large zealot force when his mutalisk flyers attacked my main. Unfortunately I had no cannons and feng was laughing at me. At that point I was deciding whether to build cannons or shove my keyboard into feng's mouth. I decided on the former and warped in 3 cannons simoutaneously. I got lucky and his 3 mutalisk flyers ignored the cannons and attacked my nexus.
Meanwhile, realizing that I had the +1 damage upgrade for my zealots, I sent all of them into his natural as I had realized with a scouting zealot that he had a base there. They obliterated his standing forces of zerglings and 2 sunken colonies. Alas, due to the quick building rate of zerglings, I lost the entire contingent of warriors to freshly bred zerglings and mutalisks.
At that point, I had a natural base mining and I was building mass dragoons mixed in with some zealots, a most potent combination when dealing with zerg. I had scarcely started warping in my high templars when I saw aerial bombardment beginning from guardians. At that point I decided to warp a stargate in from Aiur, but the supply officer on Aiur was angry due to the lack of minerals that I had to pay for it. I told him that if I did not get my stargate when the hyperspace communication was over, I would personally cut off his neural links. He concurred with me and sheepishly allowed the warp in to begin. Meanwhile, as he was hitting my nexus, I had amassed enough dragoon warriors and archons to attack his air force. I managed to drive off his massive mutalisk, devourer and guardian fleet while sustaining minimal losses of 2 Archon Heavy Assault Warriors and 6 Dragoon resurrected exoskeleton warriors. I began to warp in more Dragoons, all too willing to return to life in order to serve their homeland drive the zerg away from what was once a Holy Protoss Temple.
I had decided enough was enough and I took the battle to him. I sent some dragoons to escort 2 high templars up the 12 o'clock natural as this was where he was amassing his air fleet and came upon the sight of creep in the natural, I attacked and was greeted by his flyers, I reinforced the attack force with zealots and more dragoons and his air fleet was all but wiped out.
I finished off his natural only to discover by corsair scouts, that he had the 12 o'clock main, the 6 o'clock natural and the 6 o'clock main too. I sent half of my warriors to attack these expansions while leaving half at home in case of a flanking manuever. At this time my main was mined out and I had expand to my mineral only. Fortunately the nexus and several zealots with photon cannon support was already there, waiting for my robotic probes to arrive and commence mining. The attack force that I sent to the 6 o'clock main was met by a massive zergling and zerg air attack. I won the battle with barely a quarter of my forces remaining and was greeted by a massive queen and zergling assault on my main. Fortunately Archons were there and they acted as shields(ironic in that they are mainly made up of shields) for my photon cannons. He lost quite a substantial amount of zerglings and mutalisks, not to mention devourers and queens when he decided to fall back. By this time, I had amassed a massive standing army comprised of zealots, dragoons, archons, high templars and corsairs.
I decided to start my final assault on his main. He fought valiantly with his zerglings, sunken colonies, mutalisks, guardians, devourers and even drones. I would not say that I won the battle through skill, but through sheer attrition. Pound for pound, zealot for zergling I matched his forces and won the battle with superior upgrades +3/+3/+1(weapons/armour/shields) and psi storming. He conceded the game and we both uttered gg.
All in all this was a really challenging game as at most points during the game I was on the defending and more often than not, loosing end. I congratulate AZN~whathisname(i cannot remember the rest of his name) for his tenacity and skills.
