I am sure most of you don't care who I am. i am sure many of you don't care what i write. i am sure many of you won't read this. but i do. i just want to share who i am, who i could have been, and who i was...
hope you don't get bored.
8-9-1981. a boy is born. thunderclaps sounded outside as the clock passes 2 am. at the Seoul Hosiptal located at Seoul, Korea, (duhh) the kid is born to the Lee family. (duhhh) =]
using the lunar calander, my birthday is 7/20/81. my mom went to see a fortune teller;korean style. she "figured" out that if i was born after the last full moon in july, i will be successful in life. using the lunar calander, that day was 7/30 or so, and my scheduled birth was 7/27.
as you can see, i was born in the "good" era which fortune teller had "forecasted". but the prediction turned wrong.
in korea, domestic violence is condoned. child can get beat legally, as well as teachers. this barbaric act of violence has carried out the country for fore than few mere centuries, and only recently are some laws being formed to restrict it. my dad being born in the countryside, he had to work. being raised in a family where he was the only boy wasn't easy. he was beat frequently, and he was beat hard.
well, i guess it was revenge. cause i was beat frequently, and i was beat hard.
when i was 1, my dad threw me against the wall cause i wouldn't stop crying. as i grew older, i was beat harder cause i was able to survive from it. the life as i knew it was hell itself.
everynight, a rustle of a blanket or a moan from a pillow sent my dad's foot screaming across the room. my mom was also the victim of his rage, and death threats were followed by senseless rampage.
when i was three, my dad threw some glasses toward my mom. her forhead was cut, and had to recieve around 5 stitches.
my sister was born one year later then mine, but she also had to suffer from the world i had to live in.
not everything was bad tho. because both of my parents worked, we were spending more time at my mom's family then i was with my own. i was happy, and i hear stories of my aunt and grandma crying everytime i was sent back to my home. they knew what was up, but they couldn't stop it.
everyday was like that. be careful, be quiet, and be beat. you never talked back, or you won't be able to speak through the blood that seeps through your teeth. ha, murphy's law. things got worse.
my dad, being a freaking tyrant he is, quit his job. he couldn't "stand" being ordered to. he had to be his own boss, he had to be at the top. no job, more time at home. being pissed for not having a job, my sister and i became pissed at being punching bags. we knew what was up, but we couldn't stop it.
no one liked him. no one. as we started to go to school, it was fun for us. at school, the freinds were giving me something no one else provided for me: love. i was friends with everyone in school, but none could become my close friends. why? cause i had to come home straight from school, or i wouldn't be able to go with half-broken legs. i couldn't visit my friends, i couldn't say stuff, i couldn't play outside, and i couldn't be a child. but i couldn't do otherwise.
my dad thought i needed to learn some martial arts. so i started attending tae-kwon-do classes starting from first grade. it continued on for more than 5 years, and now i rest with third degree black-belt. yet i couldn't lay a finger on my dad.
when i was in my fourth grade, there was a national academic competition. i was ranked 9th in the country. on the following exam, i got one question wrong. i still remember the answer being "44", but i wrote "43". surely i was beat, and i never saw top 10 again...but i wasn't motivated.
school was my supposed heaven. but it turned out to be nothing more than my house-hell's extention. teachers were able to hit the students, and me, being the unlucky bastard i am, was chosen to the meanest bitch in my school. she was less than 5 feet tall, spoke softly, and carried a big stick. often using those soft elderly words, she was more satisfied at swinging the big stick. i was thinking that i did something terrible in my past-life to deserve this.
still flying fists, still broken teeth, still bruised body. now everyone knew what was up, but no one did anything about it.
ah, the light at the end of the tunnel. the savior. my dad went to united states following my grandma's (my dad's side) successful life of more than 6 years there. we were to stay, but he went first to "pave the way" for us.
we weren't to go to USA for more than 6 month. as you could tell, it was the happiest time of my life.
fifth grade was in full swing, i was turning 10, and the airplane that was taking me to USA, and to my dad was just crossing the pacific ocean.
hmm, that was it. hope you understand me a little better now. some of you might laugh at this. some of you won't belive this. some of you will wonder why i wrote this...
i just wanted to share my anger, my rage, and my sorrow that i cannot express at anywhere, and to no one....
i can't tell this story at it's full power. i can't tell this story face-to-face. but i could share this story, my life, at a stoic fashion.
i just wanted to share myself. you guys are the only one i have except my immidiate friends. but i can't even tell my best friend of 4 years. it is just too hurting...
well. byeya
p.s-i will try to write my second part of my life on weds. |
