Steve flew past the command center and headed towards the nearest empty landing bay at the star port. After touching down and doing a routine check over his wraith he headed towards the debriefing room. It was time for another meeting with everyone's favorite asshole. Coronal Sludgid.
As he and another few wraith pilots made their way into the debriefing room he noticed how bad the terran strike force's losses really were. He considered him self lucky for being support instead of the main offensive force. A full 2/3 of the pilot's he knew were gone. The mutalisks sure had done their damage. Seeing the losses he knew that the coronel wasn't going to be a happy man, and he was right. When the coronal came into the room ,wearing his uniform as perfect as ever on his increasingly fat body the first word out of his mouth were " Do you have a fucking problem with the rest of the pilots here asshole??" I looked around nervously and saw he was looking right at me, I knew right then that I was in deep shit. He stormed up to me and brought his face close to mine, almost touching it.
"If it weren't for your laziness we would have had half the losses we had today" He was yelling quite loudly now and little specks of spit were landing in various spots across my face.
"You are supposed to be the captain of a support squad, I didn't see moving in too quickly to save your buddies, what do you have to say to that you good for nothing sack of shit".
To say the least, I was lucky that I didn't shit my pants. I tried to compose my self and answered " Sir, I didn't receive any orders to move in for the support" His reply was very quick, a punch right in the eye.
"That's bullshit you dirty cocksucker, I'm thinking you want the Zerg to win this battle" I lay on the floor hoping he was done, and that I might get another chance to fly. No such luck for me. "I've had it with you captain, you know, I've been wanting to get rid of you for a long, long time" He looked down at me while I lay on the floor cradling my bruised eye. " I think your gonna like being a marine asshole, your going strait to our new mineral expansion."
That was the end of my flying days. The next day I was moved from my cozy room in the star port to the barracks. I learned right than that the marines didn't like us "Fly Boys" very much. By the end of the week before I was shipped off to the new expansion I had been in 4 different fights, 3 of which I lost and 1 that got broken up by a firebat. The firebat was named Gregor and as it turned out we were both going to the new expansion. We left a few day's after I met him, and he was the only new friend I had made. How sad. Even the medics wouldn't come near me, and they seemed to be spending a lot of time with everyone nowadays.
We marched for about a week straight. My legs hurt, I was covered in sweat(mostly because Gregor liked to burn plants with that goddamn flamethrower of his) and I was supposed to dig the shitter that night. My troop rounded a curve in the road and what I saw then made my mouth drop to my knees. It was a temple, some sort of ancient religion. There were 2 massive statues in front of the structure that seemed to be staring down at our small troop. Our major didn't seem to impressed with it though and he made us march right passed the gigantic structure. About a week later we reached the expansion, or, what was left of it.
Me and Gregor were at the head of the troop when we first saw the command center. It was surrounded by zerglings and a scattering of hydralisks. Strewn around the ground we're pieces of human flesh and metal, these must have been the SCV pilots mining minerals. A few of them looked to be alive, medic's rushed to them and started to treat them. Me and the rest of the troop stimmed ourselves up and charged the zerg forces. I pointed my rifle at the nearest zergling and fired. It's head exploded, sending gore flying all over my armour. I hardly cared since one of the little bastards buddies was trying to rip off my crotch. I kicked it aside and shot it too. The battle continued this way for about another 10 minutes. Most of the zerg forces were erradicated. The few that survived went crying back to whatever the hell it is that they come from.
After the battle was over there really wasn't much for the infantry to do. The medics successful healed the few living SCV's and they started to repair the base and set up some decent defense. A pair of bunkers were set up with some turrets around them. I was feeling pretty good after the battle, I had bagged myself six little zerglings and even got some shots in on a hydralisk. Me and Gregor decided to celebrate this with a little liqour that we had gotten past the major. That night we sat in a bunker with a few other marines and firebats and got ourselves quite drunk to celebrate my victory. My being the only person to successfully smuggle some booze into the camp made me quite popular to be with.
After the night we all sat around and tried unsuccessfully to nurse our hangovers. It was something the medic’s didn’t know how to cure, because most of them had one too.
Later that day, we were all rudely interrupted when the ground around our encampment began to tremble. A large cloud of dust was gathering in the distance. Me and the rest of the marines sat in the bunkers and prepared ourselves for the worst. As the dust slowly cleared we saw what we thought was going to kill us all. A huge legion of tanks and goliaths. It would seem that our allies had finally pulled through. It was about time that lazy ass commander of theirs did something.
Now that we had all these forces backing us up our commander thought it was time to do some attacking. So, we marched. And marched. And then we marched some more. Just when I thought that I couldn’t march any longer we saw it. It was a purplish growth on the ground. The creep. The creep was covered in living buildings which were surrounded by hundreds of zerg creatures. I thought I was going to puke all over my faceplate. The tanks sieged up just outside of the creep while the rest of the army prepared themselves for the battle. When I looked beside me I saw Gregor smiling. I said “What the hell are you smiling about, we are going to get annihilated, look at how many of them there are!!”.
He seemed to contemplate this for a moment before replying “ So?”
It was no wonder that I was his only friend. Soon after the tanks had sieged up they all launched there shock cannons simultaneously. A huge spray of blood reached the army as one of the zerg building’s exploded in a shower of gore. After the tanks attacked every marine in the whole damn army stimmed themselves up and charged into the creep. I was running directly behind Gregor when the zergling came streaking towards us. About six of them surrounded me and him. They leapt and clawed at us. They were driving me nuts. I pointed my rifle at one of the and blew off its fucking legs. Gregor was having a ball making a barbeque out of three zergling at once. One of the two remaining zergling leapt onto my arm and dug it’s claw deep into my upper arm. I screamed in pain and tried to grab at it, but the other one was now ripping at my legs. I thought the little bastards where going to kill me right then. But suddenly the one on my arm just blew up, I turned around to see a ghost taking aim with his rifle, the zergling on my leg was blown apart equally as fast as his dead comrade. I nodded thanks to the ghost and hit the stim pack again. I then charged at the nearest zerg structure, it was some sort of hole in the ground, the look of it pissed me off. I aimed my gun and started shooting. Shortly after I started blasting away at the ugly thing. From the corner of my eye I saw Gregor run up close to the hole a give it a flame shower. I smiled grimly and started shooting again. When I looked to see how Gregor was doing I almost pissed my pants. Some sort of thing was sticking out of the ground, on top of it was Gregor, with the tendril sticking right through his abdomen. I just about puked all over my faceplate, but I somehow managed to hold it in. I turned around again and started blasting away at the thing, it was clearly dying. Blood was spraying from it everywhere. I was beginning to feel that I had killed the thing when the ground beneath me started shaking. I fell on my ass. The ground rumbled harder and harder. Suddenly, I was lifted off the ground a literally thrown off of the battle field and onto a siege tank. I think I heard a few pops and cracks before I blacked out.
I woke up to a beautiful face, the first words out of my mouth were “Will you marry me??”
“I don’t think so” the woman said. “ I think I gave you too much Demerol….” A look of concern seemed to pass through the womans face but it was soon replaced by her normal beauty. “Alright stupid” she said “ you almost got yourself killed by a sunken colony, nasty little things, you’re a lucky one, you’ll be walking in another month or two”
I was instantly knocked back into the real world “another month or two!?!?! Your crazy” I was pretty hysterical.
She seemed to be amused by this “ both of your legs are seriously fractured, you have 3 broken ribs and a broken arm, how do you expect to be out sooner that that?”
I must have looked a little confused because she gave me one of those pity smiles. “ Our forces were almost completely annihilated, your one of the lucky few that survived”
I managed to get out an “Oh” before the drowsiness from the drugs kicked in.
“I’ll be your physician for however long you need to heal, I will be back to check on you in a few hours”
I stared at the medics rear end while she left my room. It was definitely going to be an interesting few months...
well, tell me what ya think, what i could work on, and please don't flame me too badly
