Corbata vs Shadow4eveR

Welcome to another Wraithfighter Battlereport! SUMMER VACATION IS HERE! My run of no BRs has been due to Finals and Studying. I have decided to improve my BRs by editing the picts in ADOBE PHOTOSHOP™!

Today I woke up at 12:30 :). I decided to log on to Battle.net and play a game. I immedatly decided to go to nohunters, land of the Super Gosu, Gosu-wannabes, and Bots. Apon arrival I was amazed to see that a game was being discussed. I msged one of them about me watching but getting no responce, I went to their game. After begging and pleading to let me watch, Shadow4eveR and Corbata started the game!

After they both randomed, I looked apon their bases and discovered that, indeed, it was a Terran vs Toss. After purging my mind of all the idiots who say that Toss will always own Terrans I began to watch the build orders.

Corbata, the brave executor, went Pylon-Gate-Gate-Assimilator-Pylon-Gate-Pylon-Core-Citidel

-pylon-robotics facility-Robotics Support-Stargate-Fleet Beacon. This was all before the first major conflict. The one oddity in this build is, despite how bloody long it is, it does not involve a forge or an archives. He started to amass a nice army at the ramp.

Shadow decided to go Depot-Rax-bunker(all three at ramp)-refinery-depot-factory-factory-depot

-depot-depot-depot-Ebay-Starport-Science Facility. The oddity in this build, again despite the length, it the absence of an academy and the late E-bay. This left his base detectionless for quite some time. If Corbata had sent a few DTs in there, well use your imagination. But, givin his build, it looked like a heavy metal with Science Vessel support, fairly common against toss.

Both sides decided to leave each other alone for a while and build up armies and tech. Each side threw up some expansions. Corbata, who had started at 9:00 went for the 3:00 main. Shadow went for his own natural. I have to wonder, WHY DID CORBATA DO THAT? Why did he expand to the spot that is the farthest distance away from his main? But naturals can be turbo-newbied and the distance allows it to run seperatly from him and force it not to depend on the main for survival. Sure enough, a few gates were thrown up there for production.

Soon Shadow went for the 12:00 natural. Almost immediatly after it's consruction, a probe wandered by. The valiant SCV eliminated the probe and proved himself worthy of a medal. Sadly he would last for only a few seconds more. Soon, the entire protoss army charged into there, and destroyed the CC and Private SCV. *Sniff* poor little guy. He barely lived. :(. Anywho, Shadow was outraged and sent his army to attack Corbata! Finally. The Tank-Vulture-Golaith force with a Vessel for detection was spotted by an observer on the way. Corbata retreated his army from the ramp and back into his base.

The Tanks and Vultures went up first. In a few seconds 8 vultures, 7 Seige tanks, 4 Golaiths, 2 Science Vessels, and a partridge in a pear tree was above the ramp. BTW, partridges and trees can cloak :). The seige tanks all seige very close to each other, obviously not afraid of storms. And no storms came either! Instead the death of this armada was caused not by storms but Gay, er, I mean D-WEBS! Cobata managed to D-Web the entire Terran army! Not a single terran survived the onslaught! The D-Webs were so effective only 1 or 2 Dragoons and a handful of zealots died from that attack! The Terrans didn't even move an inch to run from the D-webs!

Shadow, throughly embarrased by this battle, was forced to regroup. He built two more barracks and a pair of Factories too, and also expanded to his mineral only and the south-east island! His army increased substantially and he had a minefield in front of his natural. His defenses seemed impenetrable. But I had thought that his army would wipe Corbata's army all over the temple. Who knows what could happen?.

Corbata's army and airforce drove into the mineral only. Again the tanks fired and goons melted, but the D-web did it's job again! The tanks could not fire and were consequensially destroyed. The minefield did take its toll on zealots and goons but not enough to stop the onslaught. Soon the natural was destroyed and another series of D-webs managed to defeat the main's defenses and soon all resistance was killed. Goons charged into the base and started to destroy buildings. With that, Shadow conceeded defeat. He put up a good fight but D-webs are just too damn good. I NOW PROCLAIM CORBATA THE VICTOR!

MISTAKES

  • First of all, Shadow did not do the tank dance neccessary to defeat d-web. "Siege. Unseige. Move. Siege. Fighting that dwaskly d-web." He could have inflicted more casualties.
  • Shadow did not seek out Corbata's expansions. If he had taken out the 3:00 main he could have stopped Corbata. In fact, the gates at the exp. was put there only after the observer saw the initial strike force.
  • He forgot wraiths. They may be tin cans, but they are not affected by D-web. ALWAYS MAKE WRAITHS AS TERRAN! THINK ABOUT MY NAME!
  • No detection early. Although this didn't hurt him, it was a major mistake.
  • No High Templars. They would have really helped the army.
  • Almost no DTs. Remember to check for detection.
  • No reavers. Again an essential part of an army.
  • No observers in final battle. If Shadow had Wraiths the Toss would have lost.
  • Corbata didn't expand very often.

GOOD THINGS

  • Corbata did not go for mass carriers. He stuck with what he was good at, which is D-web.
  • Shadow's minefield was a good idea, even though it didn't help much.
  • Shadow did a smart thing with the science vessel. I once saw him EMP the bulk of the toss army. That was a very smart thing
  • Mass expansions for Shadow. He really got ahead in the money race.
  • Corbata using goons instead of Zealots. Zealots don't like D-web.
  • Corbata use D-web like Gosu players use storm, and that is very good!.

I really was impressed on the skill of Corbata. After all, D-web isn't gay, it's just misunderstood :). Without the web, he would have lost lots of men and, possibly, the game.

This has been aproduction
