Here is part 1 of a story (fanfic?) I decided to write.
I got the idea from playing numerous 2v2's and wondered why, if this was a story, would this 2v2 be taking place.

This is not meant to be a part of the of the campaign story as I don;t know it that well.. so read and enjoy.. I'll soon know if its worth continuing the story.

Thx
Stacrafty.

The rogue Protoss commander pondered his actions of the last few days, was he doing the right thing? Well this did not matter now, as He was already too far into his plan for second thoughts. And it was exactly that kind of hesitation that has cost him his place on the council. The kind of hesitation that had let his ancestral line down, and he could feel them urging for him to redeem himself. He felt he had to wipe out the council, because to him though it was not the council he knew. They had sided with another race, the Terrans in the recent battles against the ravenous Zerg. He thought his was an act of betrayal to the Protoss race, letting outsiders in on an age long society and culture. The council had betrayed the very fabric of the Protoss, insulting his ancestors. The council was clearly in the wrong. Orinn would redeem himself by wiping them out, all of them. With the help of the vulnerable cerebrate he now had had control of this would all be possible. A wicked smile crossed his face, and indication the sides are not as they once where, and he was not as he once was.

The council where all to aware of Praetor Orinn, his disapproval of the alliance with the Terrans, and the less than pleasant terms he had left on. They knew this was not a good omen as they where already weak from the recent battles with the Zerg. They had sided with a Terran commander General Sli’ Stac and this they thought had been the difference between holding off he Zerg , or having themselves become nourishment for the swarm, their great civilization becoming nothing more than a few lumps in the Zerg creep.

The ancient Protoss Psychic, Suis-coot, was seeking an audience in the great auditorium. His words where brief and to the point.

“I have detected Praetor Orinn in the Area of the old Lost Temple, what he wants with the area, I do not know”

“The Lost Temple area, once a fertile environment with a mysterious feeling of power is now nothing more. The Zerg infestation has totally drained the area of its lush plains and abundant animal life, it is nothing now, just a dark barren plain”

“Sadly my brethren there is truly nothing more left of the Lost Temple area, as there is nothing left of our brother Orinn, The Orinn we once knew is gone and in his place is a hate filled clone”

There was a deathly silence. Most of the Protoss where unaware of the fate of the Lost Temple area. They knew that yes the Zerg had been in the area, but they could believe it was gone. The Lost Temple was something of inspiration source to many Protoss. And althought the area’s powers where more of a myth than reality, it was a devastating blow to the Protoss spirit, and Praetor Orinn, who had been a respected member of the Protoss, had also fallen and was no more.

“There is more”, Suis-coot said, pausing to make sure he had all attention focused on him.

“It appears Orinn is in control of a Zerg cerebrate, it appears he plans to use it..…”

Suis-coot could barely get the words out. He was about to inform his remaining people that one of their own was plotting to wipe out them out.

“.. against us.. he plans to attack us. His revenge.. I don’t know why”

“Praetor Avatara, we would like you to warp to the Lost Temple area, and try to put a stop Orinn’s plans”

“I can’t but help feel this is partly my fault” chipped in General Sli-Stac, “As Orinn seems to have a problem with me, well with my race. I will fly a command Center to accompany Praetor Avatara, and together we shall remove this threat to your people”

Suis-coot felt drained, as that was all the power from the lost temple he could tap into. Praetor Avatara and General Sli-Stac would have to scout of area of the Lost Temple for themselves.

Orinn knew the powers of the Lost Temple where no myth, although the previous Zerg infestation had drastically changed the landscape, mystic energies had all ready started to rejuvenate the place. The various resources had already re-grown, minerals and vespene gas where once again abundant in the Lost Temple. Just what Orinn needed to get his Protoss / Zerg army to wipe out his former people.
Orinn warped in the first of his new Nexi at the northern position, and decided to have his cerebrate grow, well Orinn did now care how it was made, morph a Hatchery at the southern position.

Orinn quickly had some probes, the robotic workers of the Protoss, gathering minerals. His plans where to quickly sap the Lost Temple area of its newly re-grown resources so he could build an army and invade his former people. Little did he know that just west of him one of his former friends was also warping in a Nexus and soon had his probes diligently mining, and at about the same time that General Sli-Stac was landing his Command Center at the eastern postion.

The devastation to the Lost Temple area was immediately apparent to Praetor Avatara, but it was General Sli-Stac that had the most widespread view of the carnage as his Command Center hovered above the area before landing. The lush hills and forests had all given way to a dark drab landscape, there was no sign of local wildlife, and the local Bengalass population was all but extinct it seemed. It was as thought everything had been colored gray, and flattened into a featureless terrain, The general layout of the Lost Temple was still the same though, just as Sli had studied at the Terran academy, and some how, miraculously, the resources of the area where back in abundance.

Orinn knew about the Zerg overlords, that they where good for reconnaissance, so he sent one toward the west of the map. The other Protoss, Praetor Avatara had similar ideas, as much as he didn’t want to see more of the destroyed Lost temple area, he knew he had to find out the details of Orinn’s evil plans. He sent one of his probes north.

It would soon become apparent to Orinn that a force was here to stop his plans for revenge, and that he would have a battle on his hands sooner than he had anticipated. Orinn would also have to decide the best course of action for his Zerg cerbrate.

Praetor Avatara wold soon discover that he would have to act quickly to stop whatever Orinn had planned, and General Sli-Stac would have to build makeshift fortifications to guard against the early vulnerability of the Terrans.

The Lost Temple landscape would soon be bearing more scars.
