| Newbies On Ladder II (some HTML, but I don't plan on using it again) | | | Author: | | | IP: | CPE00207XXXX | | Date: | 02/17/02 08:02 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | none | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 1, Max: 6, Min: 6 Lifetime Rating for Computer: 5.6667 | | Wow, it hasn’t been too long since I’ve posted here. :P As a matter of fact, I’ve decided to stick with text battlereports for awhile longer, since I process any images through my computer and all I’ve got is MS Paint. :( So as always, there are no pics in my battlereports but there is HTML. :D But it's only color-coding, which I did for the hell of it, since I wanted to put in dialogue stuff.
Anyways, my internet wasn’t working this morning so I decided to finish off my homework. And by the time I my internet was back up, I was done all of it. So I said to myself, let’s get on battle.net and see if I could work up a battlereport. And of course… I couldn’t find anyone to be battlereported as nohunters was almost empty at that time. No problem. I decided to ladder some more and beat some pubbies at it. So I quickly clicked the “join” button in the chat-room.
I quickly whizzed through the short, o so very short list of ladder games. There were some like “1100+++ join!” and “ffa temple” and “1v1 temple newbies” so I couldn’t decide which to join. I wouldn’t want to join temple newbie, I’ve had too much experience with that. :P I also couldn’t join “1100+++ join” or I’d be banned (my rating was 984 at that time. Bad, eh? I know). So my only choice was to join ffa on temple. But nobody I knew ever FFA’ed on temple. But I had nothing else to do, so I quickly joined up.
As I entered the game room, two people were there before me, but one guy left, and the creator cursed and swore. Then he asked if we wanted three way ffa. The two of us agreed and the creator commenced the countdown.
Map: Lost Temple
Me: Orange Zerg at 3:00
FP_Dipper: Brown Zerg at 9:00
Hurricane (can’t remember his full nickname): Blue Zerg at 12:00
The two other players chose their zergs in the game room while I had randommed mine. I began to get worried as Zerg versus Zerg was my worst race matchup and with an extra Zerg in there it made it Zerg versus Zerg versus Zerg, which was even worse. So being the newbie that I was, opted for fast fighting units, namely the Zergling. I sent my overlord scouting 12:00 position and I began a pool on 8. Pretty fast, but I was worried about 4 pools and offensive sunkens.
My second overlord and pool morphed together and I morphed 6 zerglings. And as my scouting overlord entered blue’s base he greeted me with a “hi” and I noticed he had only drones mining away, no pool or even a second hatchery morphing.
As soon as my 6 zerglings morphed I sent them off to blue’s base with a backup drone for an offensive sunken. :P As soon as my forces ran down my ramp they ran, smack, right into a morphing hatchery. He might’ve wanted to contain me. But I didn’t care and set my drone and zerglings to kill the hatchery. The hatchery was just 10 HP away from finishing when it blew into blood and guts. Then I noticed in his main, a drone just starting on a pool. I laughed and ran on to his main. I quickly ordered my drone to morph a creep colony and my zerglings assaulted the spawning pool. He sent his drones off minerals but it didn’t matter, I killed them all. He even tried to morph sunkens, but wait - you need a spawning pool. I morphed my fresh creep into a sunken and I had this little conversation with hurricane:
hurricane: spare me plz
Me: no newb
hurricane: how come i cant build sunkens?
Me: u need a spawning pool to build sunkens
hurricane: ally me plz
Me: u cant ally on ladder, ass
hurricane: u cant?
hurricane: plz, spare me then!
But I wasn’t feeling that merciful and I killed him.
hurricane: ally plz
Me: no idiot, u cant
Me: newb
Me: ur dead
hurricane has been eliminated.
Now the other guy, was being clever and sent 6 lings into my main where I had just finished an extractor and was just starting a hatchery. With blue eliminated, I quickly sent my zerglings back home. My newly spawned zerglings at home attacked the invaders, and with a combination of dronage, I managed to eradicate all lings, with only losing two of mine.
I quickly scouted my opponent to see a mass number of sunkens (about 6) and a batch of lings. I also spotted a morphing spire behind his gas. I realized that if I attacked it would have been fatal and I would end up suiciding all my guys I quickly built a hydra den. To also defend myself from mutas, I built an evo chamber to get spores. My second hatch had finished and I quickly morphed six hydras. I reseached range first this time and I kept up my drone production.
Just then, four mutas entered my drone line on the verge to harass my drones. I quickly clicked over there with my hydras to chase them off, and morphed more hydras while I morphed two spores around my mineral line. I positioned my lings atop my ramp, and I was lucky I did, because just then, 12 zerglings sprang up my ramp, but with my elevation advantage I killed them all.
Dipper: where the hell did my lings go?
Me: up your ass
Dipper: stfu, newb
Me: lol. u know, theres a useful something called retreating, but newbs like dont seem to know what it is
Dipper: im no newb, so stfu
Me: newbs like u also shouldve realized u just lost ur four mutas to my two spores while u were chatting
Yes, the Big Dipper had just lost his mutas to my freshly made spores. I took this time and expanded to my natural because I knew he had just lost his zerglings and mutas together. I kept pumping hydras and defended my natural with sunkens and spores. I quickly morphed my hatchery into a lair (Late, eh?) and scouted with my zergling all over the map. That's when I found his new expansion at 12, hurricane's old main. I sent my 24 hydralisk force to assault it.
Dipper: fuck
Dipper: leave it alone plz :(
Dipper didn't want to lose his expansion that quickly and brought all his zerglings from his main to his 12 expansion. Luckily, his freshly morphed hatchery went down seconds before the zergling force came. And my hydralisk force quickly killed the zergling force. I quickly expanded to the 12 location myself and defended with the hydra force I had sent to destroy Dipper's expansion. With my lair done I morphed a spire and queen's nest as I had to spend my money more. I sent on zergling scouting to the 9:00 position and found a new morphing expansion there. Seeing no defence or any resistance at all I sent all my lings 36~ of them to the enemy zerg base with 8 hydras to backup against mutas. Zerglings rushed in and assaulted the morphed hatchery. Dipper swore again. But then, him being clever as he was, counter-attacked me with his seven mutas on my main. The spores went down quickly and I sent my hydras from my natural and eliminated the threat. Glave worms danced around madly while acid burts shot up into the air, and landed on the opposers, and stung them madly. Fortunately for me, both the mutas at my main and the hatchery at the natural went down together.
I morphed my lair into a hive and waited for it to complete while I made mutalisks continuosly. Dipper expressed his opinions.
Dipper: ur too good :(
Dipper: i need an expo bad, but u wont let me take one
Dipper: if blue was still in the game, i wouldve asked me to ally with me to kill u
Me: sigh. u cant ally on ladder. u fucking moron
Dipper: im going to avenge blue's death
*Shiver**Shiver* I'm so scared. <=(
My hive completed I quickly morphed my spire into its kingsized form - the greater spire. I wanted to get - you guessed it - guards. I morphed twelve of my thirty six mutas into guardians while morphing 12 larvae into scourge, then it told me I needed more overlords. But I didn't care, I had all the force I needed. When my guards finished their morph I quickly moved them out with scourge to the 6:00 position, where I could have sent the guards in through the south and north into his base. The guards arrived at six and attacked his base north and quickly razed his lair. Dipper finally knew what was happening as he sent all his mutas, 12 of them to attack me guards. Unfortunately for him, voila! scourges quickly eradicated their lives for the swarm and Dipper knew it was over and left the game with a "gg."
I arrived back in NoHunters, happier than when I left it before. I had won one ladder game, but there were many more to come. I logged off.
Whew! I'm done two reports in two days. That's quite a lot. But text-only's are easier to write, considering having not to use pics and only words. But it was hard color-coding things and explaining things in better detail than I usually would have. Nonetheless, it was a great weekend on ladder for me.
