Before I begin this report, allow me to explain the basics of Axis and Allies, the PC game. The game is basically laid out like a boardgame would normally be laid out, with seperate territories dividing the world into five major powers: The Allies, which includes The United States, Russia, and Britian, and the Axis: Germany and Japan. Axis and Allies is a dice rolling game, and each unit that the game contains has a certain attack strength based on the role of the dice. For example, the fighter, has a defensive strength of 4 and an offensive strength of 3. In order to kill an enemy on the defensive, the dice that is roled for the fighter must be between 1-4. To kill an enemy while attacking, the dice must be roled between 1-3. Get the picture? The units of this game are the Infantry, Armor, Fighters, Bombers, Battleships, Submarines, Transports, Carriers, and Antiair craft guns, which can only be placed on an industrial complex. Now lets get down to the individual powers. Each territory that each power owns produces a certain amount of IPCs with which can be used to buy units during each turn. For each turn, each person that controls each individual power has a combative and noncombative move in which he can attack his enemies and maneouver his men respectively. Here are the starting production IPCs for each Power. Russia: 24, Germany: 32, United Kingdom: 31, Japan: 25, and the United States: 36. Remember that at the start of the game that although the Axis is economically inferior to the Allies, they have a much stronger military. You still with me? Now that you understand the rules, lets get the game going.
After staring at blank walls and talking about how ugly the females are at out school, me and my friend David Sherrick decided to have a one-one classical Axis vs. Allies game. I opted for the Allies because I always win with them, and David took the Axis, solely because he is a Nazi Kraut loving bastard (joking). I turned on the computer and booted up the game. I quickly got the game ready and we were soon underway. The first Power to start was Russia (me). I decided to attack David's Nazi bastards in the German territory called the Ukraine (You have to know at least some geography to get where I am attacking and what region of the world I am talking about) I sent 8 infantry (1 offensive, 2 defensive), 3 armour (3 offensive, 2 defensive), and two fighters into the breach against 3 enemy infantry, one armor, and one fighter. The battle was quick, my forces quickly annihialiting the enemy army, and the territory of Ukraine was mine with the lose of two infantry, boosting my IPC production from 24 to 27. I reinforced Karelia, the territory above Ukraine on which Russia has an industry, with two infantry and the two fighters that I was landing from the battle. The turn ended, and I place eight more infantry on Karelia. I was ready to rock next turn.
Next it was David's turn for Germany. David decided to counterattack into the Ukraine with six infantry, two armor, and two fighters. The battle was long and I was scared to death, but my forces prevailed with only two infantry left. Meanwhile, David had destroyed a British battleship to the south of France, the British Fleet around the UK was sunk, and dirty Kraut bastards were in control of the top portion of Africa. He ended his turn by moving three fighter and two four infantry on East Europe, and placing the 10 infantry he bought on Germany David gained 36 IPCs.
Next came Britian, and I built a carrier (18 IPCs), a transport (8 IPCs, and one infantry (3 IPCs), all of which I placed around the UK. I moved all of my men, two infantry and one fighter, out from India and attacked Anglo-Egypt-Sudan (2 IPCs) and took it back, destroying one armor and one infantry. Even after this I was lacking of money, and at the end of the turn I produced 26 IPCs. My goal was to retake all of Africa, which was worth a total of 11 IPCs, and then move on Finland and Norway, which was controlled by the Germans.
Next came Japan. David bought one Factory (15 IPCs Note: If you place a factory on area of three IPCs, you will only be able to produce three units on that area.), and three infantry. He decided to attack China, which in this game is about 1/3 the size of today's China with four infantry and one fighter. He killed the two US infantry and one fighter their without losing a man. He then moved a single infantry from French IndoChina (West of India) and took the without a fight, which gave him three IPCs. After his turn he grouped a huge fleet of warships (two battleships, a carrier, two subs, and two transports) next to Japan. He placed the industrial complex in Manchuria, which in present day would be East China, and placed two infantry there from Japan. Then he put three infantry on the mainland.
Last came the United States. I decided to attack the Pacific, and I grouped a battleship, a carrier, two fighters, a sub, and a transport into one group and moved on Wake Island and captured it (Wake Island is worth 0 IPCs DAMN!). I then placed two transports and six infantry on the West coast of the United States in order to continue the assault.
By now you have realized that it would take me forever to write this report if I went on and on round after round after round, so I have decided to summurise the following 10 rounds: Russia was invaded by Japan to the West, and the Japs took Yakut, a terrritory to the West of Main Russia, South East Asia, Sinkaing (Western China), Kazahkstan, and Novosibrisk as well. This added up to 8 IPCs. Meanwhile, the U.S., led by their excellent commander, managed to destroy the enemy fleet and attack New Guinea, Borneo Celebes, and East India, which gave me four more IPCs. To my greatest pleasure, Britian had succeeded in capturing West Europe (6 IPCs), and was continually trying to take Southern Europe and Germany without success. The Russians to the West had captured East Europe and were also making strong attacks Westward. Germany would soon fall if Japan could not come to its aid. David knew that South Europe would soonbe conquered under constant attack. He only had 8 infantry and two fighters left their, and his IPC production couldn't keep up with the loses. He had lost all of Africa, and he was producing a measely 16 IPCs from Germany and Southern Europe. All his hopes rested with those fucking gooks in Asia. He evaluated his Jap forces in Yakut, Novosibirks, and Kazakh. He had a total of 24 infantry, three armor, and 5 fighters ready to strike into the heart of Japan. His two bombers were preparing to assault the American Pacific Fleet along with six submarines. He decided to attack main Russia and succeeded, killing the 16 Russian infantry stationed there and looting 23 IPCs. I got extremely pissed right then and slapped him upside the head. Then it was Russia's turn again. David's force in Main Russia had been reduced to 6 infantry, three armour, and two fighters after the intense battle. I counterattacked with my 12 infantry in Karelia to the East, knowing that it was more than likely I was going to fail. But NO! The attackers prevailed, killing all the enemy yellow fucks at the cost of 9 units.
The game was over. The next two turns saw the downfall of Germany, with the capture of both Germany and Southern Europe by Britian simulateously. After doing so, I began relocating my 32 or so British infantry out of Germany and into Asia, where, fighting alongside Russia and the United States, I managed to take EVERYTHING back. The Japs counterattacked and countercounterattacked, but to no avail. The only thing left of Japan was the ISLAND of Japan after I was through with him. He knew he was dead and the end was inevitable-Mainland Japan produced 8 IPCs, but he decided to fight to the end. There, I sourrounded it with battleships, and I bombarded it constantely with repeated attacks by infantry from a combined total of 8 transports. I sent bombers overhead to destroy the Jap IPCs (1 Bomber can destroy at least 6 IPCs if it is not shot down and really lucky). After five more rounds of bombing and bombarding, Japan was felled, and the Red Communist flag flew over Japan. I laughed in triumph and spit in David's face as I jumped up in down in happiness-Just joking. I congradulated David and the great game he offered me, reminding him repeatedly that I was the superior. We shook hands, and that was it. The game had lasted all of two hours (ouch).
Before I conclude I would like to say that Axis and Allies is not a well known game, and it never was very popular. However, I hope that this report has opened your eyes on this great game. I strongely encourage you check out the PC game on the internet. I will definitely be worth your time. And sorry for the lack of Pics, I have no idea how to take them with the game. I havent written one of these since last summer, and Christ, I think this was one of the longest ones yet. I hope you enjoyed, CbK_Chris666.
